Just got off the phone with an att rep, and they said that is NO insurance available for the iphone. I thought about purchasing it before, but this is really problematic. What happens if the phone is damaged, or if I'm assaulted/robbed (remember the ps3 frenzy)? I've gotta spend another $600?

No way, that's ridiculous. Methinks Jobs may be getting a little too greedy.

Actually I don't think this is Apple or AT&T's doing. Its the insurance company AT&T uses. They won't cover more expensive phones like this at all. The iPhone isn't the only one with this issue.

Um, protect your phone, and just because they aren't offering any insurance, doesn't mean you can't find 3rd parties that will. Contrary to popular belief, I sincerely doubt that it is Jobs' mission to make you unhappy.

This is common knowledge ... and its not due to Steve Jobs, so please don't put blame on him for it. AT&T just doesn't offer insurance on PDA and/or Smartphones like all other carriers do.

Your only option is 3rd party insurance ... which I still haven't found.

try safeware-in the US. Not sure if they will insure it but you can check. I will check when i finally decide t to switch to at&t from verizon for the phone. I have my mbp insured and its only around $50 a year.

We would like to thank for the inquiry. However, unfortunately due
underwriting guidelines, coverage for the iPhone is currently under
review and is not available at this time. We are in the process of
working with the underwriter to have this policy updated and available
as soon as possible. We will be more than happy to collect your contact
information, and you will be contacted once this product has returned.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I have posted this a few times, Safeware will not provide coverage currently.

his mission may not be to make you happy either, im pretty sure his mission is the sucess of the apple company by any means necessary, also hes there to make a profit.

My phone is covered under my contents insurance, will just add the iPhone to that when I eventually* get one.
