Apple banned WiFi scanners? Sucks...

I read somewhere that Apple removed all WiFi search apps from the app store.

Is this true? Why? Prevent wardriving or something? Why would they do this? Everyone needs to scan don't they?

I just looked in the App Store and they seem to all be there. I did a search for Wifi Finder and plenty of choices came up.
