Last summer Tom Richmond, one of Mad Magazine's top illustrators and two-time winner of the National Caricaturist Network's "Caricaturist of the Year" award, began drawing a likeness of every Senator and Representative in the 111th Congress — 540 caricatures in all, including non-voting members from Puerto Rico, Guam, etc.

Here is the developer's blog detailing the application Apple rejected,

http://www.tomrichmond.com/blog/2009/11/09/apple-rejects-my-caricature-app/

While I enjoyed having my iPhone 3G (AT&T was the reason I sold it) this censorship is crazy. At least WebOS will allow applications to be installed outside of Palm's application store. Same thing with RIM, Windows, and I believe Android though I'm not sure as I never used Android.

Even if the iPhone came to Verizon I don't think I'd buy another unless Apple opens up the platform without me having to jailbreak it.

You need to learn to title threads better. It wasn't Pelosi specifically.

I simply copied the blog title from the first link, it's sarcastic humor.

Here is their rejection letter:

Subject: Bobble Rep – 111th Congress Edition 1.0: Application Submission Feedback

Please include the line below in follow-up emails for this request.

Follow-up: 87280909

Dear Mr. Griggs,

Thank you for submitting Bobble Rep – 111th Congress Edition to the App Store. We’ve reviewed Bobble Rep – 111th Congress Edition and determined that we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because it contains content that ridicules public figures and is in violation of Section 3.3.14 from the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement which states:

“Applications may be rejected if they contain content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, sounds, etc.) that in Apple’s reasonable judgement may be found objectionable, for example, materials that may be considered obscene, pornographic, or defamatory.”

A screenshot of this issue has been attached for your reference.

If you believe that you can make the necessary changes so that Bobble Rep – 111th Congress Edition does not violate the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement, we encourage you to do so and resubmit it for review.

Regards,
iPhone Developer Program

Where in that do you get Nancy Pelosi specifically? Makes as much sense that they are rejecting it because McCain's face is in there.

They said specifically why:

“Applications may be rejected if they contain content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, sounds, etc.) that in Apple’s reasonable judgement may be found objectionable, for example, materials that may be considered obscene, pornographic, or defamatory

Look up defamatory. Apple would rather hurt your feelings than those of the congress-critters.

The app is also very practical and useful, unlike a lot of apps in the store this one is the 0.5% that actually matters. The developer put in a lot of time along with the guy who did the drawings. To me this app rejection is dirtier than Apple blocking the Google voice app, I'm surprised it's not getting more attention.
