Apple today began selling certified refurbished iPad 10 models through its online store in the U.S. for the first time since the device was released in October 2022.

Apple lowered the iPad 10's starting price to $349 in the U.S. in May, and the refurbished models are discounted by an additional 15%, bringing the starting price down to $299. 256GB models are also available for $419, down from $499 brand new.

The refurbished iPad 10 models are not yet available in any other countries that we checked.

Apple says its refurbished iPads include a new battery and outer shell, a new white box, and all manuals and accessories, including a USB-C charging cable and power adapter. Apple says it puts refurbished devices through a "thorough cleaning process and inspection," and it performs full functionality testing to ensure there are no defective units.

All refurbished iPads are covered by Apple's one-year limited warranty and 14-day return policy, and eligible for AppleCare+ coverage.

Be aware that Amazon not only has a better deal on the iPad 10 right now, but they are brand new models instead of refurbished. After applying an on-page coupon, you can currently get the iPad 10 for as low as $249.99 on Amazon in the U.S., which is a great value and an all-time low price for the tablet as far as we have seen.

Apple really needs to start lowering the prices on their refurbs. The refurb store used to be a great way to save money.
I agree...now the refurb store is not even worth it if you do some simple googling for prices. For example, the Mac Mini M2 was there for $419 the other day...but you can get the brand-spanking new M4 for $499 at either the Apple Education store or many online retailers! Moreover, before the M4 was released you could easily find the M2 brand new for $479. $60 savings for a USED last-model machine?...no thanks. When I saw them for $419 the other day (after M4 was released) I really expected to see them for like $359.

"...But Amazon Has an Even Better Deal"

That's the case for most of the things in the Apple iStore... You only buy through Apple to get promotional financing on the Apple iCard.

Much rather buy from Apple than Amazon any day of the week.

For a whole host of reasons…

As to the 10 having a non-laminated screen, we have iPad Airs as well as an iPad 9 and, frankly, while I was originally concerned about the iPad 9 being non-laminated, it's not been an issue at all. Screen is wonderfully bright and crisp, equally responsive, and any supposed off-putting tapping sound has proven immaterial.

I go between the Airs and the 9 many times a day and even enjoy the 9 more as the screen is a bit bigger, brighter, and it has better battery life. (Air is older.)

YMMV, of course.

It actually makes sense. Apple does not want its brand to be associated to the lowest price available. When people see that refurb products at the Apple store are more expensive than buying new from Amazon or Best Buy, Apple reinforces the perception that their main store is not for discounts.,but *wink wink* you can buy at a discount at all these other places…

Apple has never been able to stop a store from discounting, but the margins are tight so Amazon is likely losing money. Just don't tell your Apple rep and they don't care.

That's not true. Back when Steve Jobs was CEO, he didn't allow stores to discount Apple products. One way stores started going around this was for them to offer store gift cards when you bought an Apple product from them. That is why you used to see Black Friday promotions like "Buy an iPad, get a free $50 Gift Card". Overtime, that all changed under Tim Cook and that is why stores typically offer discounts instead of gift cards on Apple products these days.

No, you only buy through Apple for the edu pricing, because you can get 15-20% off Apple GCs and during B2S, you get a gift card and no sale in your state. Nothing beats that even with cc cash back or if you have 10% super market and can get (almost) any gift card 10% off.

Though Amazon's new devices are cheaper than Apple's refurbished ones, I feel that it would be be better to buy refurbished ones from Apple as they have proved to be of good quality and are long lasting. But personally I would rather go for new devices from Apple rather than Amazon, even if I have to pay the extra amount.

If it makes you feel better to pay more for a refurbished device from Apple, than a less expensive new one at Amazon, good for you!
