My friend and I have been "camped out" here since Monday night, and have seen it progress. We watched yesterday as another set of walls came down and they uncovered the fountain by hand (wearing suits o_O ), and the fountain has been up and running. They get further and further each day, and it's really cool and exciting to watch the progression! The guys working on it are super nice, too.

Read the blog in my signature. Basically my friend and I have been camped out for "whatever" Apple is announcing, and plan to stay until the release of the device. ;) We're having a lot of fun with our little project!

You have nothing else to do really?
How about you volunteer for any myriad of community programs that could use some idle hands?

iPhone Whatever FAQ
iPhoneWhatever.com said:
Q: Wow, people are staging protests against social injustice and doing volunteer work, while you are wasting all this time waiting on a silly phone.

A: The same time you are spending flaming people you don’t know on the internet? Oh yeah. We have both done plenty of volunteer work, and have causes that we are passionate about and actively support. Doing something like this does not negate that.

^^^Not meant to be directed at you, just in general we've had a lot of people ask that.

Apple on Tuesday began to remove wooden supports from the structure covering its under-construction glass cube on Fifth Avenue in New York, as work on the multi-million dollar project at the company's flagship store moves toward completion...

My curiosity gets the better of me, so I must ask - how do you support yourself financially while engaged in this endeavor.

Because of the way I am paid (fee for service), even taking a sick day off is a hit to my monthly income. Haven't had a vacation in 6 or 7 years. Perhaps I'm just jealous. ;)

As I read this I realize that it is none of my bloody business - but I'll ask anyway. :p

It's cool, lots of people have asked. It's in the FAQ, but basically Keenen works from his computer anyway, so he is working the whole time we are here. I am freelance as well (fee for service). I don't make much, but I don't often take vacations. Since I'm in my mid twenties, single with no kids, the only person I have to look after is myself...well, and my tortoise, but my roommate is babysitting her. I paid my rent and bills for October early, and will take a small financial hit. We found a sponsor though (gazelle.com) so the hit won't be nearly as painful. I tend to work myself to death sometimes, so i don't take vacations much because I feel "lazy"...but I couldn't turn this down when Keenen asked me to do it. We were only going to do a week, but our little project grew, and we are both the type that, once a plan is made, we want to just DO it. So we impulsively decided to get out here before the announcement date was even announced! lol Tomorrow night we will have been here a week.

Looks great, I'm surprised there hasn't been coverage on this lately. It looks like it should come off within the next month or so.

This was two days ago as they uncovered the fountain on the south side of the cube:

The construction workers have been talking about early November as their project end date, but I think it may be sooner. Here are a few from today:

Take it from someone who worked in the industry. Chances are pretty good that the November end date is going to be pretty right

Haha yeah we were like..."Should we bribe them to go faster? Hmmmm..." lol :p

Thanks anjinha! I wish anyone who wanted to be here could be. That's why we're trying to make it as interactive as we can. :)
