Apple being sued for its New 20" iMac screen...

Ok, So I just bought a 20" iMac for my workout room and I noticed how different the quality of the screen was compared to my 24" iMac. I first thought I had a defective unit but in fact all the latest 20", have horrible viewing angles...It truly does look like a cheapo HP screen with some tweaks.

It is truly deceptive on Apple's part.

I have to agree, I have been greatly disappointed in screen quality by the 20'. I was trying to swing the few extra $$ for the 24', but did not have the funs or the room for one (Just fond out we are getting a bigger house in a few weeks, Would have waited and bought the 24'. Oh, Well). But I went through two iMacs till I fond the perfect one. The first one had a bunch of dead pixels and the second one had dust under the glass. But the third one, the one I have now. There is nothing wrong with it but what everyone complains about. So much for my first mac experience. But it is still good enough for me to stay here. I love my mac, I hate the screen on the 20'. I love the ACD's. Not to be a jerk. I hope they win and Apple did lie to use. I think this is what needs to happen.

1. Recall and replace the screens in the iMac.
2. Give us a percentage off on a ACD or $200 Apple Gift card if we do not want the ACD.

This is just what I think. Bad on Apple.

What about all the other Mac owners with a TN panel? Shouldn't they be included?

Sort of silly suing because the old 20" was eliminated and the upgraded 17" took its place.

All should have of course made it easier to know what panels are in the machines. And likely that is all this lawsuit will serve to do in the end.

I just looked at Apple site. It does not say anything about how many colors either display produce. But if it does anywhere and they simply state in general (like the author states), Apple is in the wrong. They should clearly state the specs for each screen.

The problem here is not just the screen quality but the false advertisement. Apple states that both their 24" and 20" iMac displays display "Millions of colors" which is not accurate and it is Bait and Switch. Its like buying a car advertised to you with 300 horse power and after you take it home you find out that it only has 250 horse power.

Most people look head on at any monitor. I keep reading that most are unhappy with the viewing angle!! I never look at the monitor with a slight or extreme viewing angle. What am I missing here?

If you go to Tech Specs, you'll see that they advertise it as Millions of Colors.

Most people look head on at any monitor. I keep reading that most are unhappy with the viewing angle!! I never look at the monitor with a slight or extreme viewing angle. What am I missing here?

The colors on the 20" are not accurate, its not just the viewing angle. The 24" has a brighter, accurate contrast and colors.
