So I am in a little dilemma here. I have a late 2009 Mac Pro and it was working fine. A couple of days a go, the bluetooth Apple keyboard would just flash green. I have been through this before but it usually starts working after I reboot the keyboard or take out the batteries. This time, however, it persisted and I decided to ignore it for then. It started to work again for a day or two and now it's in the same spot. I tried a reboot on my Mac Pro but now the problem is that I cannot type in my password to login to my account. I do not have a USB keyboard at hand but I have a feeling that is my only option. This is the weird part of this problem: I login to the guest account which only accesses safari and I can use the keyboard there without any issue. Any ideas what the issue is?

Hi,

From what I have read on the Mac Pro forums(I forget which thread0 the bluetooth signal in the 2009 and earlier Mac Pros is not as strong as it should be. I know some have gone to USB Bluetooth adapters and or installed an antenna booster to help strengthen the signal.

My Mac Pro which is also a 2009 for some reason did not suffer this problem.. I believe it was problematic on the 1st run of the 2009 Mac Pros esp with the audio problem which required a firmware patch to get it working. It would overheat.

Well I am right next to it and never had an issue for years (well it would disconnect every once in a while upon waking but nothing too bad) but now I have this one.

Perhaps you a corrupt preferences file that's preventing you from using your keyboard.

Go to your /system/library/preferences and find the .plist and trash it. Then restart your machine. If all went well you shouldn't be having connection problems.

Idea's of getting there from a fresh start without a keyboard and a password on the user account?
