Hey guys I am slightly confused as to what exactly is going on with my newest application. My app contains some bad language but I do have the appropriate rating on it. Yesterday I received an email from apple saying that they needed more time to review my application. Then the next day I received a phone call from a guy who works at apple and told me call him back to discuss my app submission. I did and he wasn't there so I left a message but haven't heard from him yet.

My question is has this happened to anyone ever? I have 5 other apps out there and I have never gotten this. I have had one of my apps rejected before but it was just an email. Should I be expecting a rejection? What else could he want to talk about? Is it possible for him to ban my apple ID?

Thanks

They will probably ask for one specific thing to be changed, most likely in the meta data, then it'll be approved. Thats how its been with me when I get phone calls from Apple (happened twice before.)

Same here. I had to change the line in my description, which I did. The crazy thing is, developers can change the description at anytime, including after the app/update is approved, so it's kinda silly.

But I was thrilled to get a phone call and not a form letter email.

We, at Another Roadside Attraction LLC, had a number of phone conversations with Apple in order to work through various issues before [app]CraigsHarvest[/app] was ever approved. And I myself have been called once to discuss my [app]a.k.a.[/app]'s full application name in the App Store before an update was approved. I tried to use "a.k.a. - the App Store's Favorite Name Generator" and they took exception to my reference to the App Store. It's now called "a.ka. - Your Favorite Name Generator".

Yeah apple called me too. I kinda thought i was in some kind big trouble. Since it takes 3-5 days when you have a problem for them to get back to you via Email. So when they called me and told me to call them back. I was like  what did i do?

Turns out my keywords had some kind of copyright issues. No bigger.

Alright thank you very much for the responses guys. It turns out they wanted me to change my icon. I guess they found it inappropriate. lol

Question for whom got an Apple phone call: how much time did it take for your apps to be accepted since you fixed what was told you by Apple?

I got a phone call on last Thursday, I fixed the problem on the same day (change a line on description), and the guy told me not to worry that I wouldn't go to the end of the queue, so... let's hope that doesn't take too much time :p

I had a very similar situation. Apple called me, asked me to change a line in my description before an update could be approved (this was an already approved app). Called me on a Friday, made the change almost instantly, and while they assured me I wouldn't lose my place in the queue, it still took a week. Of course, if I had started all over, it probably would have been two weeks, so maybe the promise was legit.

The ironic thing is (1) the previous version of the app was still available with the old description, until I changed it and (2) any developer can change a description at any time, so holding up an approval is somewhat silly because you could have a one line description, get the app approved, and change the description back.

Hmm, but you were submitting an update, I'm submitting an app, so... maybe it will take longer :(

That is not what happened to me. They sent me to the back of the line because it did take another 11 days to get reviewed. So I am pretty sure my app went to the end of the line.

Update:

Received this today, 11 days after sending them an email saying that I've resubmitted the binary:

"Thank you for uploading a new binary. We are looking into the status of APP_NAME, and will get back to you shortly. Thank you for your patience while we investigate your issue."

Yes, they did write APP_NAME lol! :p

That's classic... I may have to submit an app named APP_NAME just for fun!
