I ordered three iPhone 14 Pro Max phones today.

Two were for my family and one was for myself. I put my email and phone number as contact info for all orders.

I called Apple to cancel one of the phones for one family member, since they didn't like the color that was ordered.

Instead, Apple cancelled my personal phone that I ordered. I was clear and gave them the Web Order Number of the phone that I wanted to cancel and gave them the phone number (which was linked on all 3 orders).

Apple says they cannot re-instate the cancelled order. My ship date was Oct 3 (so it was a slightly later shipment), but now orders are pushed back to Oct 17.

What should I do?

Is it worth going to the store and lining up on next Friday? Will they have stock for walk-ins? Will they have stock a couple days later?

Wow!!! Sorry to hear this. Apple really f***’d up.

From what I heard from other people, they do have very limited stock for walk ins.

I’d keep the order and hope that it would get shipped sooner. In the meantime, check every week after the release date as they receive new stock in hope you are able to order and do a in-store pickup.

You can go to store, or just wait the extra two weeks. Sucks, but can't do much now. In store probably not an issue on launch day besides line.

You can also check the apple.com after 6 am local time on launch day and see if the in-store pick up shows available. Otherwise the apple store usually has walk in inventory set aside so you could try. Just get there early.

Good point, yeah

Just wanted to say that your avatar caught my eye. I thought 'you don't see a lot of Hamilton hanging around these forums, kinda cool.' Then I looked down and saw your username and thought 'Wonder how old Alex would feel seeing the word "Snot" under his likeness.' :)

if you want one release day, you can certainly get one in store. that morning, 9/16, check apple.com as early as you can, probably 5-6am local time - usually, you can snag an in store pickup for same day. I've done this for many last minute 'release day' purchases and have always had success. If you live in a city, pick a less crowded Apple store. For example, in LA I have one Apple store that I can usually count on because it gets barely any foot traffic.

if you really want one release day, you can get it. just keep an eye on 9/16 as early as you can.

In my experience, carrier stores (or retailers) tend to be a safer bet. If you’re eg. with AT&T, you can often call every AT&T store in the area first thing in the morning, and ask them if they have stock for the particular model you want. Or you can just show up. I had to do this once for the 5s: the second AT&T store I called at 11 a.m. still had a handful of the one I wanted. I drove there and picked it up while people were lined up outside Apple.

I can't you believe you cancelled it because of a color. Wouldve probably put a case on it anyway or trade it after you got it within 15 days.
