We can't complete your order.

Order Number:
Ordered On January 17, 2022

Your recent online order with Apple has been canceled because it exceeds the quantity limits per customer.
We apologize for the inconvenience."
So, I ordered 1, that's ONE iPAd. Don't think I would want less than 1 iPad.

hmm... Maybe the upper limit is zero - 1 is too many.

Some random questions:
Seriously - have you ordered other iPads recently? Maybe you have exceeded some arbitrary number that you have ordered within the last month, or within the last year (?) Any possibilities, or no recent Apple orders?

Or, maybe some other person has ordered for your household (probably to your own address...?

And, this is where the inconvenience comes from... You should call Apple customer service/AppleCare support who should be able to answer your question, or point you to the right number to call (might even be customer relations, I suppose)

Last iPad i ordered was in 2018. Nobody else has ordered in my household. On the phone as I type trying to get the cancellation reversed and their systems are giving the rep. a hard time. It's really screwed up now. Rep just told me she can't get somebody else due to system errors. Hmmm, something is afoot at the circle-k.

Order from Amazon, BH or Adorama as they have better deals

I order through the veterans discount page, still as good as anybody elses. Besides, i want it noted at apple that their system had a misfire.
You may want to revise your title to

"US Vet's iPad order cancelled by Apple".

It may be specific to US vets.

I think this might have a one per year limit similar to EDU. Or maybe the new verification system for EDU caused a glitch for the other discount pages.

Have you sent feedback to Apple Support? There’s nothing we can do here to help.

If there were a limit, I would have been cut off summer of 2021 so that's not it. The rep said that there is nothing in my previous order history would have caused this so it's some glitch in the system. I am to expect an email within 24 hours with updated info. And yes, Apple support has been notified.

The reason I even posted it was to let folks know that "stuff" happens but calling apple support is the way to go. Assuming it goes as the rep expected, my last post in this thread will hopefully be one that says the order has been reinstated. And hopefully delivery within the original order date parameters.

Contact Apple sales ( probably glitch in the matrix ). I've purchased quite a bit more than 1 iPad recently with no issues.

PS: I should have read to the bottom before commenting.

Chip shortage.
Haha. Odd how intel has 15 chip production facilities, 4 in the US. The chip shortage is due to the idiocracy and mismanagement of companies reliant on chips.

Board meeting:
  • Lets see Jeff, our entire production line is dependent on a single widget. Let's ensure there is only one supplier and they are halfway around the world. Great idea! Next!
  • How about we skip lead testing the drinking water to save a few bucks? Fantastic. Now, we are getting somewhere.
  • How about relying on a single mass transit system for the entire county? Genius!
  • Representative democracy to ensure it is easy for lobbyist to control? Damn! We have solved world peace! Time to vote for everyone's raise. All in favor?

It isn't that simple. Not all industries adopt the latest chips using the newest fab technologies. So you'll have varying capacities for chips of different fabrication sizes. You'll also have different factories in those sizes so a COVID spike could take out factories in one location or a natural disaster like flooding could occur that impacts large swatches of capacity for one fabrication size without impacting another.

Additionally, not all products using chips have extremely high profit margins like iPads and iPhones so they aren't able to just instantly start paying more for chips or chip capacity. Apple has such high margins on their products that they can absorb market shocks a lot easier and adjust pricing to a level the market will still accept.

Funny how Apple ships and sells worldwide but they are incapable of sending items to Guam from the Apple store. Hell we use the same US Postal service the rest of the US does.

Covid has allowed companies the perfect opportunity to lay mismangement faults and management incompetence on covid, 'sorry for this happening, sorry for that happening but it's due to covid'. I bet the majority of problems the world is seeing is due to management errors and incompetance but is being falsely blamed on covid.

I have convinced myself that Apple sometimes deems people to be unworthy of owning an iPad.
Shouldn't that statement be the other way round ''...deems people to be unworthy of owning a $3000 macbook"

because that is what the OP is complaining about, ordering a $3000 macbook but getting sent an ipad instead.

If you don't own the proper quota of Apple gear, they might deny a purchase. If they deny purchases, you can't reach the Apple gear quota. It's a vicious circle. ?

maybe somebody has got hold of the OP's personal details and tried to obtain an ipad which would be logged on Apple's system thus when the OP tries to order an ipad the system denies the request because the system shows one has ordered already.

It sort of is that simple.

Automobile manufactures, for example, can easily absorb the price difference of $0.02 cents per chip. Management just needed to be on the ball and begin testing / adapting / adopting 10 years ago. No need to put the latest and greatest in a car. If I remember correctly, Intel cannot even build the latest and greatest and relies on TMSC to produce their top chips.

You are correct, disasters do and will happen. When did that start surprising entire industries?
