On Oct 9, I ordered via my Aeroplan points an Apple 14-inch MacBook Pro: Apple M2 Pro chip with 10‑core CPU and 16‑core GPU, 512GB SSD - Space Gray

All things indicated at time no M3 until 2024.
Usually takes up to 5 weeks to arrive.

Of course, Apple announced an M3 as wee all know. I tried calling Aeroplan to cancel since order still showed pending, and they told me I cannot. It sorta made me feel a bit bad because I don't believe I would have been able to return in 14 day windows due to the way I received via points.

Just this morning I received an email that it was cancelled, and I got my points refunded!

Apple must then not be shipping orders that were purchased, maybe since this is unique to via aeroplan and they had no way of contacting me or replacing it with a different model (aeroplan does not yet have any of the M3 available in store yet).

Just wondering if anyone who had a MBP on order around the time of announcement of M3 got their order cancelled also, or were contacted by Apple?

So now I purchased a bunch of egiftcards and will buy myself after I receive. It is a bit more points this way (when I compared doing this with M2 last month) but I am still OK with this overall and I am glad now will be able to get an M3!

Edit... maybe this post should be moved to another section, may be off-topic here.

Ya it is probably because of the Aeroplan process, by the time that they send the order off the Apple and gets all processed... and if Apple is not able to fill that order (ie. M2 models no longer available) by the time they get, then they just refunded it. I am just happy that this happened.
