I have a FICO of around 550, when I applied for the card it was denied but I had the option of sharing with GS the amount of Apple products and services tied to my Apple ID and I was then approved. I got 250 and 23.99. Pretty happy actually since I want to fix my credit and I think this card will help. First credit card I have had in 20 years.

That’s good news! Makes it seem like it’s a person giving final approval versus a machine

I have never heard of that kind of condition being offered before.

I asked to be notified by Apple and still haven’t gotten a email invite.

I never got an invite email either, I did sign up for one tho. I went to the wallet and Apple Card was an option for adding as a payment option.

First Card in 20 years? How do you have such a low score then? Bankruptcy?

In my 20's I was young and dumb and thought a credit card was having money. I screwed up the first credit card I got. I also was finically unstable and made some pretty poor financial decisions. I got smart and only bought things I could pay for in full. I paid cash for everything. Now that I have this card, I am paying it off almost after every purchase. By this time next year Im hoping my FICO will be solid enough to buy a house. Thanks Apple!

What GS phone number did you call to discuss with them?

It’s good to hear this story. I’m glad Jack posted it. Makes it sound like Apple is showing it’s customers a little loyalty instead of just expecting loyalty from us. Even if they are stiffing me on a warranty claim right now...

Jack, one big difference between using credit and using cash is it’s a lot easier just to hand over a credit card than it is to hand over cash. For most people anyway, there’s a little bit of pain you feel when you hand over cash that’s just not there for a credit card. What I do to simulate some pain for my use of credit cards is I go into the mint, com credit card web site and make sure all my purchases are “categorized” correctly so that t least I know where my money went. I’m not terribly crazy about the software on mint.com though and having been thinking about looking t other software options.

Don’t know if you wanna do something like that or not. But it works for me.

Best of luck on getting that house!
