I'm thinking about applying for the Apple Card. My credit score is excellent and Apple states a hard hit to your credit score will only apply if you're approved for the Apple Card. Knowing that I will be, does anyone have a ballpark estimate of how many points your credit score will decrease when approved, obviously this is different for everyone....

Like many people here I didn't take a hard hit at all. I unlocked my Transunion credit before I applied and then re-locked it after I was approved. They didn't try to do a hard hit till later that night at which point the credit was locked so it didn't go through. The good news is no impact to my credit score at all...the bad news is it's kind of scary that you can open a credit card without a hard hit.

That sounds annoying. I thought the standard hit for a hard inquiry was just up to five points.
That's what I thought too, certainly not more than ten points. I wonder if other factors affected my score during that time, but my spending has been pretty consistent between each month. Oh well, I'm sure it will recover in a few months' time. It's not as if I need a loan anytime soon.

I came here searching for this answer. I was in the initial beta and never received a hard pull. I was under the impression it was a soft pull for the solicited offer, but a hard pull once you applied. I guess I got lucky? I never had a hard pull hit my account on any of the three bureaus. Maybe the soft pull gave them the info they needed? I have never had this happen with a credit card.
