I happened to look at my Bank of America statement today and noticed a debit I didn't recognize. It was listed as "Marcus" via web and had no other identifying info. After a few minutes on the phone with BoA we finally determined it was my Apple Card payment.

Every other month it has been listed as "APPLECARD GSBANK" with a category of credit card payments. This month it simply said Marcus DES and had an uncategorized category with no other info that I could use to decipher what it was for.

Very strange but wanted to pass this along in case others see what they think to be an odd transaction on their bank account.

I’m happy to come across this post and know that I’m not the only one that encountered this. When I pay my Apple Card, like you, I see Applecard GSBank Payment, but last week I got concerned when I saw Marcus with a description of Clothing/Accessories (as labeled by my bank).

I immediately put a stop payment on it but after reaching out to Apple Care Support, they told me a couple customers were noticing this occurrence as well so it was okay.

Does anyone know more about this, we also had a deduction from our checking account to Marcus which happened to be the same amount we paid for the month.

It sounds like it’s a reference to the broader vision of Marcus by Goldman Sachs to create a leading digital consumer platform, with partnerships as a core pillar of its strategy.

All my Apple Card payments have referenced GSBANK.

Marcus is GS’ consumer credit service and processing platform.
