I'm strongly considering applying for an Apple Card. My frequent Apple purchases (despite my waning Mac usage) and their cash back systems definitely appeal to me. That said, I have a few questions regarding it:

1. The ApplePay version of the Apple Card (which is what I'd primarily [if not 100%] be using) stores the card in Apple Wallet on an iPhone.

2. If I switch iPhones, does the card automatically come with? Or is it a pain to do that. Similarly, if I have multiple iPhones signed into my AppleID (such as a current and active iPhone and an old iPhone that still functions but doesn't have a cell plan), is there anything stopping me from using my Apple Card on both iPhones? I would think there wouldn't be, seeing as that limitation doesn't exist on any other payment card stored in the Wallet.

3. Have any of you had any difficulty renting cars with the Apple Card? Specifically, when the rental car companies demand a credit card for the deposit, do you have any issues using ApplePay to use the Apple Card as the card for the deposit? Or is that one of those things where you'd HAVE to use the physical card? Or is that one of those things that the Apple Card is not the best for, in which case another credit card is recommended? (And if so, do you have any good recommendations on a card to open for those purposes)?

4. Are there any other things/situations for which using the Apple Card as a credit card (in situations where a debit card cannot be used) won't work? Or is that merely a matter of places not necessarily taking Apple Pay?

I don't have an Applecard (yet).

1 - I just transferred my iphone 7 to an 8 and all I had to do is add in the three digits on the back and click okay to re-add my debit and credit cards. I assume its just as easy for the Applecard.

2 - I have the same credit cards on two phones. Again no applecard yet.

3 - Apple gives you a physical card to use. I would recommending having that on you for car rentals just in case. If you want other credit cards -- there are plenty out there, it just depends on how you want to redeem points/cashback.

You can use your Apple Card on any device your Apple ID is signed in to. So you can use it on both phones.

When you switch phones, it will automatically load the Apple Card over to your wallet of your new phone and prompt you to do so.

You can rent a car with the Apple Care anywhere Mastercard is accepted. If you are physically going to a store to rent one and they don't accept Apple Pay then you will need the physical card.

There are those with experiences where even the physical card didn't work because it didn't have details like the card number on it which were required by the car rental agency.

To both/either of you, I've heard that I can put in my Apple Card into an account with the company I am renting from and that would solve both the problem of them not having the number and the problem of them needing the physical card. In theory that makes sense, but would that make sense in practice? The other thing I'm wondering is, let's say I book via Expedia, Priceline, or one of those services and I use my Apple Card with Apple Pay to book the rental, would that eliminate my need to present a credit card since a credit card would be where the payment comes from?

To be honest, its best to have more than one credit and from more than one issuer. Don't put all your eggs in just the Apple Card bucket. Like any credit card, be responsible in using it. Don't spend the money if you don't have it in the bank already saved.

Reno my problem I ran into using my apple card and Apple Pay was with using it to order a phone from Verizon. I’ve never had an issue and prefer to use my apple card for everything.

FYI for anyone applying for Apple Card

when it asks for your annual income, enter your gross, not net. I put in my net because that’s what PayPal credit asked for and got declined...even with a credit score of 742 it stated my payments too high, yet they are 2 and low, so, this makes no sense, has to be putting in my net income. I’m going to have to check my credit report also.

I got my balances below 20% of my credit limit a few weeks ago, yet they stated the ratio was too high, so I don’t think I waited long enough for my current balance to be reported, another reason to check my credit report.

I have a PayPal MasterCard, but tired of not being able to use Apple Pay. My bank debit card has Apple Pay, but, most places will not let me use it with Apple Pay as credit, I have to enter PIN, which I will not do.

they use trans union. Trying to get a free credit report today. If it’s only a matter of putting wrong income info in, I wish i could do a redo. Ugh.

It turns out my too many accounts is because TransUnion has 2 accounts listed that are not mine! The status is ok though. (?) And I requested from Equifax, in order to pass identity test, they wanted me to confirm 3 accounts, none of which I have, so I have to request by mail because they don’t think it was me! That’s what I get for ignoring the equifax hack, apparently someone has used my personal info to open credit. Unless my prepaid phone shows up, but, with transunion that shows as having a current balance. Ugh. Worse than I thought, and I’ve got no time to deal with this.

Right now everyone is entitled to a free credit report from each bureau each month instead of yearly.
