When you purchase Apple Care for the iPad Pro at the same time you purchase the machine and Pencil, the Apple Care will also cover the Pencil. However there is no Apple Care for the keyboard. This is what an Apple rep told me.

That is correct, which bothered me because I ordered my iPad separate from the Pencil so I could pick the iPad up in the store the day it released and the pencil delivered because I remember the shortages when the original pencil released. I purchased the AppleCare Plus for it the other day and they told me the pencil was excluded. I called AppleCare afterward and was told as long as they are purchased within 30 days of each other there would be coverage. She opened a case so we can get that in writing, I’ll update when I hear back.

Ok please keep us posted. I did purchase mine all at the same time but I did not make the purchase from Apple. I purchased from Verizon. I called Apple and said my pencil would be covered because I purchased it all at the same time. Once I receive everything I will call again and get it verified that my pencil is covered.

I purchased both together from an Apple Store. When checking the serial numbers for coverage the iPad correctly was November 2020 but the Pencil only showed November 2019. I called Apple - they transferred me to AppleCare Administration - they verified my Apple purchase and updated the Pencil's serial number to reflect November 2020. I was able to verify that on their web site

I have tried to get my pencil added to the applecare that I have on my 11" however it wasn't purchased on the same order, but it was purchased the same day. The rep I was speaking too is going to come back to me, he will see if they can make an exception and add it. Not holding my breath

If you are near an Apple store - go in, return the iPad, the pencil and the applecare, and repurchase same devices + applecare on one receipt.

Yeh I could do that but honestly it is a lot of hassle, they probably wouldn’t sell the same iPad back to me and I am happy with the one I have. See what apple come back with, if not oh well. Live and learn

They may do it if you tell them why and show them the receipts.

They should. I have done this once when I purchased an iMac, airport, and external display days apart. I explained that for the display to be covered it needed to be on the same receipt (same as the Airport). They did the transaction in paper, I did not have to bring the iMac and monitor. They could see I had just purchased the items a few days ago.

Can’t

Can’t do that ... once you return it its not repurchaseable ... for whatever reason ... it has to go through a process before it could be available for a resale, not to mention it will be open ...

Well I heard back from apple and they won’t add my Apple Pencil, all he was saying was the “insurance company” said no.
Try again, but give them a call.

The people I got on the live chat kept telling me no, the pencil isn’t covered.

Three phone calls late, I was transferred to the AppleCare Admin team who verified my purchases and updated it with no problem.

I just had to upload proof of purchase for the iPad and pencil.

That’s who I was speaking too, the AppleCare admin team :(

Anyway I may have to return the iPad anyway as it has a slight bow to it. Picking up another one today so will keep the best one
