I just got my apple care for my powerbook and G5. I have two questions.

1) With the G5 why can't I boot to the Disk?

2)When I installed TechTool Deluxe X, and open the app it said your G5 has not been tested with this software. What the hell did I buy it for then?

Is this a powerbook applecare CD that you tried to put into your G5? I am no expert on this but I am guessing the CD might detect what kind of computer you have, and it detected a G5, not a powerbook. To get applecare for the G5, you would have to buy an applecare warranty specifically for the G5.

Oops, sorry. It sounds like a problem with the G5 applecare CD. Try calling apple and see what they say. It is probably something simple. Good Luck.

robotrenegade,

i went through this with my girlfriend's 12" PB. the tech guy told me that they only update the techtool CD's with the latest rom's of each computer about 4 times a year. her computer came with an applecare CD (techtool deluxe 3.02 i believe) that she couldn't boot from either. she had to wait a couple months until they came out with a newer version (3.03). and now she can boot from it. she also got the new CD sent to her for free, of course.
so just call up applecare and tell 'em what's up, and they should send you a new CD. though they also may have not updated the one they send out from the one you have yet, so double-check with they guy what version it is.
