Well its worth it for peace of mind :D
Search around these forums, many people post their problems.

You never know wuts gonna happen to your machine. It is worth it for the peace of mind. Plus it increases the resell value.

It's definitely worth it if you're planning to keep your iMac for more than one year. AppleCare is only 179$ but it gives you peace of mind for three years and if something breaks and needs repair, you'll get nothing with 179$

i got my apple care for $76 on ebay totally legit..

$76 to cover a $1,300 - $ 2,000 investment.. totally worth it!!

Applecare is a ripoff except for laptops.

I love statements like this. Just a blanket statement with no facts whatsoever to back it up.

AppleCare has saved my ass more than a few times and burned me when I cheaped out and didn't buy it. It's a mere $5 per month for the extra coverage period if purchased from L.A. Computer and even cheaper off eBay.

It may not be worth the price of admission to YOU and that's just fine but it's certainly no ripoff.
