Apple care is available for the iPhone (Confirmed)

On the Att iPhone training guide!!!

It states that "For a small fee, Apple can provide an AppleCare Service iPhone to the customer while their iPhone is being repaired. Details regarding the AppleCare Service iPhone are available at www.apple.com/support/iphone".

The only thing that is unclear is if it will be available on launch day, or if it's only available have ur iPhone repaired!!

Nice. So we can walk into an apple store, up to the genius bar then drop off the broken one (and small fee) get a loaner.

Well I think what they are talking about there is a replacement phone "rental" that you can use while your phone is in for service (getting the battery replaced, for instance .;)

That's actually great.
 
Nice - I'll definitely be getting this! And with my Apple ProCare card, I'll be first in line should I ever need support for my iPhone!

Care to give a working link to allow others to confirm this as well? The link you've provided is a dead one.
 
Remember, as I have said in other posts....Applecare is NOT insurance, rather a warranty extension. Applecare does not cover theft, water damage, cosmetic damage, etc.... only extends the warranty.

I think the iPhone will need computer insurance, as from Safeware.com. They will insure for damage and theft, but Applecare does not. Also, many credit cards provide replacement insurance. But I would be very reluctant to spend that much money and then find the phone in a pants pocket in the wash...:eek:

I would rec'd Safeware. Have had them for 10 years. Early in year 2 I had a computer stolen and they payed without hassle.

(they have a basic. and a deluxe which covers un-attended car stuff and earthquake.)

The deductable might be half an iphone though so do your research.

Unfortunately, Safeware is not currently covering the iPhone (but it sounds like they are working on it). I emailed them yesterday and got this reply:

We would like to thank for the inquiry. However, unfortunately due underwriting guidelines, coverage for the iPhone is currently under review and is not available at this time. We are in the process of working with the underwriter to have this policy updated and available as soon as possible. We will be more than happy to collect your contact information, and you will be contacted once this product has returned. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Anyone know of other companies such as safeware that are providing accidental damage/theft insurance for the iPhone?
 
An Apple employee stated that Applecare will be available sometime by the end of July and will be retroactive from day one. For the mean time AT&T has the coverage of the phone for the first year so if something did go wrong that is who will cover it. The employee stated they were not able to get everything completed for launch date regarding the Applecare and your ability to purchase it at an AT&T store.

the ATT people at my store told me that the phone was covered by Apple, not ATT. they also told me that i would be able to buy applecare during the activation process, but that didnt happen. i guess we'll just have to wait until they offer it online or somewhere.
 
It is all outlined on the apple support website.

"Can I extend service coverage on my iPhone beyond the warranty?
The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone will be available in July. The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone will extend the hardware repair coverage to up to two years from the original purchase date of the iPhone. The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone must be purchased while the iPhone is covered under Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty for iPhone."

"If I need to have my iPhone repaired, will I be able to borrow an iPhone to use?
Apple can provide an AppleCare Service Phone for you to use with all of your data while your iPhone is being repaired. The service fee for the AppleCare Service phone is $29. For more details please review the iPhone Rental Terms And Conditions."
