Other Apple Care Monthly Payments

So I see you can now make monthly payments for apple care instead of coming up with it all at once however it says it has to be purchased with the phone. I know I have always purchased apple care after I get my phone however is it possible to do the monthly payments for apple care still?

I added mine after I got the phone. I got my phone from at&t so I didn’t have the option.

You can buy it after you get the phone, you have 60 days to order AppleCare+. Just as a FYI though, it’s more expensive to go the monthly route vs paying all at once if you can swing it.

I learned this last night when I went in to the Apple store to have it added. (Yes, you can order online or over the phone. I went in so I could look at and try on the Watches as well) Monthly payments are an option now, but will be more overall. I paid for AC+ outright.

Thanks for the heads up for that. I may just pull the funds to buy it outright. By no means is it going to break me but saw monthly payments but didn’t see it would be more over time.

It's $9.99/month on payments or $199 plus tax for 2 years. Assuming the full 2 years for sake of math, it costs more on monthly payments; $239.76 vs $199 plus tax. Assuming there is no tax on the $9.99 monthly.

Even if the $9.99 includes the tax like IUP does for phones, at 7% tax, you still save $27 paying up front; over 10%.

You get a prorated refund if you pay up front. $199/24 times how many months left. Apple takes 10% as a "fee" which only ends up being a few bucks (about $9.95 for 12 months left)

Apple will refund you a prorated amount if you purchased Applecare outright, and then get a new phone next year.

So I choose to do the monthly payment plan. For me it just made sense since I do upgrade every year. Yes I know I can get a prorated amount but $15 a month vs paying the full up front cost made sense for my situation. Also a first is in Florida atleast (Some state law) you always had to go in store or call in and speak to a special dept to get apple care, I was finally able to get order apple care online which was very cool and saved me about an hour phone call.

I’ve done it a few times. You just call in and ask to cancel Apple care. It’s usally about a 10-30 minute process depending on if the rep is familiar with the process or have to transfer you.

Its $29 here in the states to get the screen replaced if you crack it, If there is a defect with the screen apple will replace it free of charge.

Getting a refund for Apple Care when you trade in a device before the two years is up is a terrible experience. I've been on hold for 32 minutes and still waiting (and I had a similar experience last year). I understand that they are more interested in taking your money than giving it back, but this always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I waited 45 min. But you DO realize the same people who signup Applecare do the cancellations. Calling a few days after a major multi-device launch when everyone is trying to insure them, delays should be expected.

Yes, but one does not have to call to sign up for Apple Care (one can do it in store or online). As far as I know one has to call to cancel. And I'd be willing to bet that if you called today to sign up for Apple Care you would not have waited for 45 minutes.
