I can’t seem to find the answers to these questions anywhere. Maybe someone here could help me out?
1. I have 55 days to purchase AppleCare + for my 11 pro max. Say I buy it with 5 days left to buy it. Do I get charged for the previous 50 days even though I’m just then starting it?
2. I know it says cancel any time. So what happens if say, I buy it today then in a month I break the phone and have to be replaced. Get the replacement done and handled, and then I decide to cancel the AppleCare +. How does that work?
3. Going off the above scenario but say I use both my accidents in say a 2 month time span, can I cancel it still? What are the consequences to that?

1) If you do the monthly option you will just pay the monthly payment. If you pay in full you will be charged the full price. It is 2 years of coverage from the date of purchase

2) If you have a claim you cannot get a prorated refund. That is only for people that have no claims

3) If you feel like you will cancel you may just want to go month to month. If you pay in full and need a refund you just call apple.

I am personally a fan of the monthly now that it is an option. Yes, you pay a premium but it's more hassle free.

So even if I use both accidental claims that I’m allowed I can just cancel it and not have to pay it anymore? I can’t believe they let that one slide lol.

I'm guessing that is the case haha. At the end of the day you are still paying the $7.99/month + either a screen or whole device replacement. They are making money either way.

If it’s bricked or lost do they replace with new or refurb does anyone know? I already have general phone insurance but that is refurb replacement (although been fine used 2x on iPhone 6S)

could depend on how much you pay overall though. If I broke my phone twice say next month, and had to get the whole thing replaced...99/incident x 2 and then $20 for 2 months of Apple care plus - $220 spent on 2 replacements lol

With full price, according to the website if I cancel I get a refund based on the unexpired coverage minus the value of any services performed.

refurb unless your incident happened like now, when they don’t have refurbs available. But apples refurbs are top notch. My dad has my old 6s plus that I got rid of when the 7 plus came out and it’s still going and it was a warranty replacement.

I think the best use cases are based on annually upgrading and buying AC+ on the monthly plan. If you buy a ProMax, it will cost $180 for 12 months. Best ROI would be if lost or stolen. $269 (plus premiums paid to date) to get a new/refurb $1400 phone. I’m betting the screen repair is retail $300 so worst case if you break right before the annual upgrade cycle it’s $180 plus $29 so still saving money. If you don’t lose or break.... you’re out $180 but you had peace of mind. I bought it personally.

The insurance I have is financed in UK by a Aviva but run by car phone warehouse, not Apple.

They’ll still take your device and refurbish it and either sell it or give it to someone else who broke their phone, and they’ll take that person’s phone and refurbish it and…you get the picture. Even in your hypothetical case, Apple’s losses would be greatly stemmed because assuming the device or any part of it is salvageable at all, they’ll salvage it.

Apple wouldn’t offer AppleCare+ if they didn’t make money on it overall and in the vast majority of individual cases. Insurance is not charity.

oh I fully understand that. Don’t find anything wrong with it either. Why not take it and reuse what they can. But ultimately I’m just trying to find out what’s best for me here. If I can pay 9.99 monthly and just cancel it if the highly unlikely chances of me using one or both both of the claims it allows (not sure if you could use both claims within a year, I know it says 2/24 months) before my year is even up and I can cancel it and only pay depending on how many months I had the coverage...I’m saving money. Lol. Works for me.
