Hey guys! Whats your opinion on purchasing apple care?
I have a 2016 macbook pro 15in. I plan on upgrading to the 2018 models next year and selling the 2016 on Ebay.

Right now I have option of buy apple care for this 2016 model. (The old apple care) Do you think it's worth it to buy apple care for this 2016 machine even though I want to sell it next year on ebay. (Perhaps get more because it has apple care)

Any opinions on this?

Hows the condition of the macbook right now? If its in mint condition, then yes. You'll get more bids. However if the macbook itself is in poor condition, then it wouldn't really matter. The buyer mostly won't pay more.

Its in Mint physical condition. I did have usbc ports replaced by Apple, but other than that, it's mint.

Then it might possibly be worth it. If I were you, I would create 2 listings. One with apple care and one without. If the bid for the apple care one is much higher, then end the other listing and buy apple care before you ship it. I'm not sure about if this is against ebay's rules though. Its pretty hard to tell these things. Really depends on your lucky and timing.

Given the high incidents of keyboard failure, normally I'd say its smart money getting the extended warranty, but...

Since you're planning on selling it next year, I don't think you'll get the $$ money back from the sale, i.e., the selling price won't increase that much because of AC.

I cannot speak for others, but, personally, as a buyer, I would now only purchase a used MBP that had active AC on it. I will pay more for this.

If I'm a buyer I'd only consider MBP's with active Apple Care. Be sure to add it within one year of your MBP purchase otherwise you're out of luck.
