Hey!
This is porbably a really dumb question, but I recently bought a new 20 inch iMac and, because it was cheaper with a student discount, I decided to get the extended AppleCare, as well.
I got my computer about 2 weeks ago, and I was just wondering, was I supposed to get anything, like a book, CD, or anything, because I bought the AppleCare? Or is it that if there is a problem with my computer, then I just call their number and stuff. Sorry, I'm just new to this all! Thanks for any help!
And sorry if this wasn't the right section to ask my question :(

Where did you buy it from? If it was directly from Apple, you don't need to do anything to register it. If you bought it somewhere else, hop onto Apple.com, and search for Applecare and you should find the registration docs pretty easily.

Q: When I purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan, do I need to register it?
A: If you purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan at the same time as your Mac, iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, or Apple display from the online Apple Store, Apple will register the AppleCare Protection Plan for you. If you purchase your AppleCare Protection Plan and your covered product separately or elsewhere, you will need to register your AppleCare Protection Plan.

Thank you! I purchased it directly from Apple.
However, it has been two weeks and I have not recieved any kind of envelope. Is this bad? :(

I also have another quick question. How do I find out how much space actually came with my computer. I ordered it with a 320 GB HDD, but obviously that is not the starting free space considering the operating system and stuff.

I never received a yellow envelope either. You are enrolled automatically when you buy it directly from them. If you are worried, give them a call. I'm sure they would be happy to verify it. Or, if you have an on-line account, I believe you can login and check it there.

On the HD, go to the finder, right click on the HD in the sidebar and select "get info". It will tell you how much capacity it has, and how much is left. Beware that the computer will report the space of the drive as something like 320 GB for a 350 GB drive, due to the differences between a GB as 1024^3 versus 10^9 bytes. The HD makers use one, and the OS reports the other.

Maybe because I just bought a refurb Imac from the Apple Store, I got a box with the Applecare "product". Paperwork and cd for the tech tool.
When I had some initial install questions I was asked if "I " wanted to activate the Applecare. Nothing was done without asking me first.

i got mine has a insurance replacement (UK) do i need to register anything at all (not got applecare, just standardone)
