Oddity I found tonight.

All of my Apple USB-C cables and Apple chargers no longer will charge my iPad Pro. Mostly the Apple branded ones.

I’ve tried my 96w, 12w, along with the 3ft and 6ft Apple USB-C cables. Zero response. Even when I use an Anker 65w charger with an Apple USB-C cable, there is no response.

The only way I can charge the iPad is if I use the Apple charger and USBC to USBA dongle, and plug into a non Apple cable.

Anyone else have this issue?

Hi, I had this problem last night for the first time. I rebooted iPad and it charged to 100% overnight. Will monitor tonight to see if this an ongoing issue

Did you try the simplest possible solution? Rebooting?

Isn't iPadOS 14.2 a beta version? That could be the reason why your iPad will not charge.

Okay. It gets more odd.

Used the iPad and battery drained to 96% at a normal pace.

Now the cables and chargers don’t work again.

So at 100% charge everything works.

Going to charge back to 100% and see if that enables the cables and chargers.

I noticed something similar last week with the iPhone on iOS 14. I was coaching in a high school golf event, and noticed my phone was draining crazy fast (5 month old iPhone X battery replacement). I plugged it into the charging port on the cart (USB-A to lightning). It showed the lightning bolt, but--without using the device--my battery charge % actually went down.

Yep. At 100% battery, I can plug in any charger/cable combo and it works.

Once the battery shows 99%, *POOF*, charging ability with any USBC to USBC charger/cable combo disappears.

For some reason, I need to have a USB-A charger to USBA-USBC cable combination for the iPad to charge.

I had the same issue today. Seems to be related with 14.2 beta

This video mention it also:

Thanks for posting the video! Ill be able to bring this up to Apple and I'm also about to order a usbC to A so I can connect it to my Macbook in the future. I'm really hoping to get this fixed without a hassle but you just never know.

Strangely enough, the Apple USB-C cable that came with the iPad Pro works and charges when connected to my MacBook Pro 16".

I did end up reverting back to iPad OS 14.0.1 and everything works perfectly now. Definitely a 14.2 bug that will get worked out before Master.

You weren't using an app like Golf Logix or Sky Caddie's app, were you?

I've found those things love to suck my battery down pretty fast.

Sadly, my Macbook is older so the newer iPad USB cord doesn't have a compatible port. Ugh. I dread having to visit Best Buy because it will be a waste of time. I will however pick up a USB cable that can be used to attach to my macbook pro. Thanks.
