Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a 30" Cinema Display, the one with the silver frame/bezels

I'm currently have a MacPro5.1 (Mid 2012) running monterey. It has the AMD Radeon Sapphire RX 590 8GB graphics card in with a DVI, 2 x HDMI, 2 x Display Port.

I was just wondering will I need to buy any leads/converters to be able to use the display or will it just plug straight in?

Assuming you mean an RX 580, this should work without any adapters. You can use the RX 580 DVI-D port. I have the same set up except that I am not on Monterey. Someone else may be able to verify regarding Monterey.

I can also verify it works using RX 580 DisplayPort output with the StarTech DP2DVID2 DisplayPort to DVI Dual Link Active Adapter, in its native 2560x1600 mode.

I also have it working on a Mac Pro 7,1 with an AMD W5700X running Ventura using the StarTech CDP2DVIDP USB-C to DVI Dual Link Adapter - Active.

This is a great display that still has some life. I bought mine new in 2006 and it's still going. The only problem is that I have to occasionally toggle the display power off/on when either waking from sleep or from the screensaver.

Note that I am not affiliated with StarTech in any way :) other than as a customer.

Hi

No it’s definitely the RX 590 8GB

Ok, sorry. I believe the RX 590 is essentially the same as the RX 580, except for a faster clock (and higher dc power). It should work the same, but someone expert in GPUs or someone who has one should respond.
