I am an elementary school librarian in a 1:1 school. My kids often complete assignments during our 40 minute library classes. This week we set New Years' Resolutions for reading goals. I had them mark up the PDF in one of their apps and use AirDrop to send it back to me. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to download all of the shared files at once. I am able to download by tapping on each one individually, but that is too time consuming. I probably did this assignment with 300+ kids, so I don't want to tap on each one individually.

I don't give grades, so I reached the point where I didn't tell them I wasn't looking at their assignments because it was too tedious to download them all before class ended (I have no transition time either). It is good practice for them to AirDrop me files regardless, especially since a lot of teachers aren't as tech savvy as I am in the middle elementary grades.

Does anyone know of a way for me to download all the shared files at one time in Apple Classroom?

Use Google Classroom. It does what you want even with Apple devices.
We have Google as our email and access to their other products, but we do not use Google Classroom as we use Unified Classroom from PowerSchool. Since I do not grade student work, I don’t have classes in Unified Classroom/PowerSchool.

I mainly use Apple Classroom to monitor their activity on the iPad and control their iPads. Being able to lock the devices when someone isn’t listening makes me happy. I’m just trying to avoid having to use a ton of apps... I wish everything could be centralized.

I understand completely. I've been waiting for two years for our school system to make the change to PowerSchool. Waiting is torture. Every year I visit them at ISTE and drool. But even after we make that conversion, we will continue using Google classroom, as they are not mutually exclusive. And since figure is web-based and platform agnostic,I don't clarify it as a program or app.

Take a look at it. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

I would love to use Google Classroom. I think it would solve a lot of my problems, but since we have the Unified Classroom from PowerSchool we have been told not to use Google Classroom. It makes no sense to me, but I follow what the boss says. Sighs.
