hello, sorry for my english but is not my native language.

im a 7 years mac user, i follow the main blogs about mac news, rumors etc.
i also follow tech blogs that cover apple, windows, linux, android ,hardware, software in general, i like to do my comments in does tech blogs wen apple news is related, because im more familiar with.
i comment for many years in gizmodo and engadget, mostly in gizmodo the type of writing and reading was relax, funny and entertainment.

Until the lost iphone story drop like a bomb, and gizmodo was never the same again, they change their website, some of the staff, some of the community take the keyboard and moved on, it was never the same again.

Then i mostly start comment on engadget, when joshua topolsky was the editor, the articles, the news, the reviews, are all well balanced in writing.
There was the apple articles, android articles, the windows articles, some trolls here, some trolls there, sometimes entertainment, but.... joshua moved to a new project ,with their staff.

After that the engadget website, was never the same again.
wheres my opinion:

1- the apple articles are presented in a way that the comment section enter in flame war against apple.

2-the level of hate and trolling in comment section bashing apple is huge.

3-all apple related news are about apple patent infringements or apple sue others companys, omitting key points and true in the articles leading to even more apple hatre.

4- the image that engadget website is giving to the world is a rotten apple.

5- the level of journalism in the articles is clearly a rib of fanboism with love by other brands (im ok with that) but they arenot showing impartiality or even decent journalism.

6- a few of my mates that are apple users like me, they had being ban from commenting section, just because they make favorable comments about apple WITHOUT THE NEED OF BASHING OR TROLLING OTHER BRANDS.

its very sad to see what one day, i considerer the best gadgets website in the world to became what he is today....

from today i request to all apple users to spread the word as a warning to all when visiting engadget.

message to forum moderators: i dont pretend to start a campaingn against anyone, this post was just to show the injustice that a few are making against :apple: a american brand.

fell free to comment.

Well yes, they write their atricles to start flame wars. No doubt, but it makes money
The only news about Apple lately is lawsuits so I dont know what you expect. People view them and comment on them so it makes money
They've never been impartial anyways.

In the end they write what gets them the most views. Dont view Apple lawsuit articles if you dont want them there. Tell Apple to be more interesting if you want better Apple news though. Its not their fault Apple has been boring.

im tottaly agree with you, "why so much hate" ?

Especially in apple articles, is impossible to make a decent argument without having 4 ou 5 trolls replying bullcrap and personnal attacks.
And if you do a valid argument with link sources that slap the average of ihaters, you see moments later "your comment is flagged for review"

engadget as become a anti-apple website.

If you think fanboy posting on Engadget is bad, have you ever read articles/comments on MacRumors? Do you think these are level headed replies?

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1187188/ for example

Thats not to mention that there isnt even enough Apple news happening that MacRumors is reporting on Mirosoft and Android on the front page.

I never condoned what MR users reply. I'm in support of fair discussion, but my understanding is Engadget is a tech website, and not a dedicated website? so the fact that their articles/posters are all mostly anti-apple is a little bit of a disadvantage. I'm sure people go to tech sites for fair reviews, and non biased reviews/articles.

MacRumors is a website dedicated to Mac. Therefore naturally if you post a competitors story, it's going to have a biased respone from users. But the special thing about MR is that the articles themselves are not biased, unlike Engadget, just the posters.

this is macrumors apple news and rumors, whats wrong with posting windows news ?

engadget is suposed to be impartial, their journalists should follow the ethical code.

They're reporting opinions and reviews, neither of which needs to be impartial. engadget is a blogging site with a focus on technology.

FWIW, I like engadget, its much better then gizmodo which I don't even visit anymore.

Not to take this thread down the bunny trail but no journalist can be completely impartial, its just human nature. Just look at liberal vs. conservative news stations. Airing the same news with an entirely different spin. My point is even if engadget was a news site they'd not be "breaking any laws" Either way they're blogging opinions and reviews

A high share price and billions in the bank doesn't mean they are perfect. Microsoft were in a similar position a few years ago but they still received loads of criticism at the time.

I read engadget for the latest stories, but I read GigaOM for real tech journalism. engadget is entertaining, but it's not journalistic, and forget about their comments section. At least some people here on MR have a clue.

Apple is sometimes deserving of criticism, sometimes of praise. These times vary according to who you ask.

A lot of Engadget stories are very pro-Apple, in fact, a lot of people find Engadget entirely a bit too Apple biased sometimes.

If you're talking comments, just look at Android/Windows Phone or stories about other devices on Engadget, and you'll see the same venom spewed against those vendors. Some of it from the very "pro-Apple" crowd. It's just the nature of the Internet.

I will be blunt here. Apple fans can take zero criticism of Apple no matter if it is true or not.
Also the banning could easily be because some people are being what I have dub Apple trolls.
Personally I find Engadget a little to pro Apple. Now I normally do not visit it because they do enough articles that care about and way to many that I do not give a rats ass about.

Honestly if I want an Apple product review I have other sits I tend to visit that are more of an Apple only sit but the bloggers there are willing to go after Apple on their crap but believe me when I tell you the people who run it are apple fan boys.

For Android I have another site I tend to follow and they never even talk about the iPhone much more than in passing. They compare the devices to well other Android devices. The only things that say about Apple I noticed are areas that Apple has some things right and what Android/Google may of messed up on but other wise not even talked about. Same for blackberry and WP7.

Problem is, a lot of it is completely unfounded, and deliberately spread by the anti-Apple folk who infest this Apple-oriented site. There's uninformed opinion, and there's informed opinion.
Also the banning could easily be because some people are being what I have dub Apple trolls.
Pro-Apple folk on an an Apple-oriented site is normal. It's to be expected. So I assume you mean the anti-Apple folk who like to come around here and cause disturbances.

The one I called out two days ago is a perfect example of this. But that's alright; give a man a rope long enough and he'll eventually hang himself. Problem is, another one will come take their place or they'll use an alt account before anyone can get wise to what's going on.
Personally I find Engadget a little to pro Apple. Now I normally do not visit it because they do enough articles that care about and way to many that I do not give a rats ass about.

These days, being very Pro-Apple is also normal. Engadget is going with the flow. There's not a whole lot one can fault Apple with these days. They're doing so many things right - new milestones year after year. Yes, there are a few niggles here and there, but nothing at all that detracts from the big picture, unless it's a matter of taste, which doesn't qualify as a showstopper.

However, the same can barely (if at all) be said of the competition. Apple and the rest of the industry are poles apart in terms of their approach to how *people*, not tech geeks and robots, should and would want to interact with tech. The difference is that Apple actually understands people. The product is an extension of the user. Everyone else seems to think that the user is an extension of the product.

And of course, we're seeing the results of Apple's thinking, pretty much everywhere.

I don't see why anyone would comment on engadget, there's just way too much people reading and commenting. It usually ends up in a like/troll fest. Other than if you have a snarky remark, your comment usually never gets a reply. I find engadget wasn't as bad last year, there was the possibility to -1 a comment and I think there were more mods. But I have to say the reporting went down as well. Not just in Apple news, it's starting to feel like a tabloid, you're not getting the story just some eye popping titles and brief information that doesn't really reveal what's really going on. I read engadget, I stopped looking at the comments but I'm thinking of going elsewhere for my tech news.
