The other day, I was watching my favorite "STAR TREK: Voyager" episode "Counterpoint" for the ten billionth time.
The baddies in this one are the "Devoran Imperium".
They're not "bad", really, just paranoidally xenophobic.

Anyhoo, I wondered about the word "imperium" and what the difference was between it & "empire".
So I went to the NOTES app, typed "imperium", selected it & hit "Define".
And this is what I saw ....

Really, Apple?!?
That Bowie "I'm afraid of Americans" nonsense?!?
The country that "empowered" you to become the greatest corporate entity in Human history?!?
The country that, while despising it with one breath, everyone, nevertheless,
is breaking thier neck trying to get into with the next?!?
That country, Apple?!?

I'm fully cognizant of Apple's leftie politics.
But this is a ungrateful slap in the face.
I spit on the ground in the utmost of contempt ....

Weird, if I only have the Apple dictionary set on my iOS devices, it doesn't have the definition for vivisection.

I actually have to add the New Oxford American Dictionary before it pulls up your example.

Damn those New Oxford people.

What dictionary is your Mac using? Sounds like New Oxford.

I don't use a Mac, I only use iProducts.
My iPad has the "Apple Dictionary" installed.

With only the Apple Dictionary on my iPad/iPhone, it will not define either word.

I do believe that the Apple dictionary is only for defining Apple product-related things. I just tried to define ordinary words (with only the Apple dictionary), and it cannot do it.
