Apple could easily put M1 Pro and Max into 24" iMac as BTO, but they won't!

If these chips can go in 14" MBP, then thermally they can go in 24" iMac as well, but I doubt Apple will give us the option. They will save these for the bigger more expensive iMac 30".

I think they will eventually offer it as a BTO provided that they have enough chips/parts to fulfill order requirements.

I want the iMac 27" replacement with

• M1 Pro or M1 Max
• 3.5mm thick display borders
• a notch
• 16GB memory 512GB storage base model
• Same I/O as iMac Pro of 3.5mm headphone, SD Express slot, four USB 3.1 ports, four TB4 ports & faster than 1GbE port

Thermally, your expectations are correct. Mac Mini, iMac, Mac Pro... yep. But this time is for the MacBooks to shine. Patience.

The iMac 24" has a 143W power adapter. Its peak CPU power draw is 84W.

It may be a tight power fit but it is possible that a M1 Pro & M1 Max iMac 24" SKU may show up in 2022
