Apple Countersues Nokia
CUPERTINO, California—December 11, 2009—Responding to a lawsuit brought against the company by Nokia, Apple® today filed a countersuit claiming that Nokia is infringing 13 Apple patents.
“Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours,” said Bruce Sewell, Apple’s General Counsel and senior vice president.

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Apple Inc. said Friday it has countersued Nokia Corp. , nearly two months after the Finnish mobile-phone giant sued Apple for violating patents related to mobile phone technologies. In a statement, Apple said it believes Nokia is infringing on 13 Apple patents. Apple General Counsel Bruce Sewell said, "Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours." Apple shares fell 56 cents to $195.81, while Nokia's stock rose 24 cents a share to $12.80 in early trading.
