Three weeks ago I was debating buying a Mac Pro or wait and see if they update the imacs. I was basically waiting to see if they offered a quad core Imac.

Wait or buy? Wait or buy? Wait or buy?

I ended up just buying a Mac Pro. You can imagine how pissed I was when I saw the email from Apple today about the new 27" quad core imacs.

PLUS I was on day 16 with the new Mac Pro!:mad::mad:

Apple, your the best!!! You let me return the Mac Pro for a full refund AND you paid the shipping back!

New 27" Imac 2.8 Quad, 8GB RAM, 1TB drive on the way!......Sometime in November...:D

WOW, that's truly amazing, I've also always been treated very well by Apple.
Maybe they make more money on the iMac :D

I don't see how with the free shipping both ways and the restocking. Plus I saved $300 with the iMac. faster cores, more RAM, larger drive, 27" IPS panel AND $300 cheaper?

Once again, Thanks Apple!

that is very amazing. I must say Apple store support never treated me that good. Glad it worked out for you. Enjoy the 27-inch iMac. It will be something!

glad to hear that they allows for the exchange to happen. the i7 imac is a much better deal (cost-wise) than the single cpu mac pro if you're not looking into upgrading the expansion cards or running multiple internal hard drives.

Hands-down, Apple has the best customer service of any company in the world. It's all part of the "Apple Experience"...

That's great for you. Here's my story. I bought the 24" 2.66 imac on Oct 14th along with the wireless HP printer that came with $100 rebate. Well, after reading some poor reviews on the HP I decided to return it. I went to the Apple store here in Louisville and had 2 folks help me, both had to view the receipt I had showing that I had bought a imac days before and neither of them saw fit to point out that new models had come out and that I was entitled to a $200 refund. The only reason I ever found this out is because I went to the Apple store site and saw that the new Magic Mouse was supposed to come with all new imacs so I called the store and the rep told me about this whole new model thing and that I could either take a 10%-$153 restock hit or get a $200 refund. I was pissed that it was just dumb luck that I even called and got this info. If they'd offered me the same deal you got I would probably upgrade to the 27", but with the restock it would cost me at least $350 to do this. Maybe I'm just pissed that I bought at the exact effing wrong moment, but I still feel like one of the reps today should have said something. At least I get $200 back and will end up having a really nice imac for $1350.

I should say that this is my first mac and I have nothing but great things to say about it and as far as my experience with store personnel, they have all been amazingly helpful excepting this one oversight-issue. I could really become financially irresponsible in that place, I'll tell you what.

I'll do you one better. They let me return the Mini I bought over a month ago for a full refund, return shipping paid. Of course, I told them I would buying a higher end machine :D :apple:
