Some guys over in a german Apple Board called the Apple Hotline and asked if they DELIVER the iPad on May 28th or ship it. Every one of them was told that apple probably will delay there shipments of iPads until June 7 or even later (!!) due to the high demand. They where told that this will effect people who ordered on Monday too…

Could someone of you be so kind and call apple themself to confirm or deny this? Im going nuts if this is true!

Smells like bs to me.

If you pre-ordered early enough to secure an, at the time, in-stock iPad, why on earth would Apple sit on them and ship 'em all late? Makes no sense at all.

I just called customer support. The guy (Dutch...) told me, that they will deliver my order, placed Monday night) on 28th.

I ordered the case and camera kit also, and he told me that apple will split shipments automatically if some of the accessories will not be in stock.

Release date is still the 28th of May and orders that were placed prior to today delivery will still be the 28th of May.

New pre orders will now ship for delivery on the 7th of June.

I did hear that Apple have run out of stock following pre-orders on the 10th, but didn't want to post it as I had no proof and it was merely a rumour. However, looks like it was right. All the 10th orders are allocated, and will be delivered on the 28th, and the next set (ordered after the 10th) will be delivered in June.

It's not just European orders. I presume it's all international orders in the current shipping window.

Australian preorders are out to 7 June now as well.

UK Apple Store team are saying that if you ordered on the Monday 10th you will be getting your order on the 28th May, as originally stated. After that date you are then allocated on a first come first serve basis, meaning that some people who ordered early Tuesday will get their iPads, but after that allocation orders will then be shipping in June.

So no, ALL iPads are not delayed. Apple have simply sold out of their initial shipment.

lets just cross ouer finger that this is true …*i so dont want to wait longer

No need to cross your fingers, if you got your order in on Monday, 28th is the day. Sounds like whoever rang was getting confused with the new June shipping dates.

Seriously man, you're getting spooked for no reason.

Ask yourself, WHY would they delay shipping pre-orders for stock they have? Not gonna happen.

i dont know logisitc problems or anything? It sound like apple ls getting the ipads shipped to there euro warehouse first and then to the customer…unlike the us where peoble got there ipads directly from china shipped to them …*

mehw i hate all this **** makes me go nuts :( But it really wories me that basicly 3 or 4 peoble called apple and all where told the same "delay for everyone"

According to my Apple order status page delivery is still estimated at 28th May 2010

I pre-ordered at 01:04AM on Monday

Will wait and see if this changes over the next few days/weeks

^^^Same here, ordered at 0507 on Monday. Until I hear officially, rather than the fabled "guy at the Apple store/helpline/niece's ice cream man said such and such", 28th it is :)

Me too, same status - ordered 1.45am Monday 10th.

I guess those American bods who were telling us not to freak out (their phrase not mine, not that I think anyone was freaking out, just excited) because it wouldn't matter if we didn't order on launch day, we'd still get our iPads by the 28th, and that pre orders wouldn't start in the early morning hours as that wasn't Apple's style might feel a touch sheepish now. Heh heh.

I'm glad I got in early. If the early birds get delayed too that will be a p.i.t.a. but there you go, what can you do ? - until I'm seeing a delay on my order status then I'm not going to worry.

Ordered my SwitchEasy Nude yesterday - 10 euros shipping. Ouch.

Now I'm p... !

Just called apple again, and opposed to my post above, now got told that my order (placed 1:50 am) "probably" will be shipped on the 28th.

The confirmation email said delivered by 28, the order confirmation now says shipping by 28th.

The friendly costumer service lady told me, that she basically has no clue either...

So now I'm going to take some deep breaths, sit back and relax and check my order status in a couple of days

(hope this attitude will last longer than 30 minutes...)

I ordered my 32Gb iPad yesterday afternoon when it said deliver by May 28.

I couldn't access my order online all of yesterday but could this morning and it still says 28 May is the delivery day so I think (hope) that's correct.

If it the 7 June I will be gutted as I am away with work for all of that week!

I think (again hope) it's for any orders which are placed showing the updated date.

Haven't had a confirmation email yet though, only the 'Processing' one.

We shall see I suppose - we'll only know on the 26/27 May!!

- D

I'll bet they are updating the firmware on the ipads before they ship them so you euro guys can't jailbreak.

One positive note: you guys won't experience the wifi issues.

I think we all reading too much into this, it looks like they just simply ran out of initial stock. If Apple knew the stock was going to have issues why open the pre-orders up? Why still say on their international sites on the home page of the May 28th Release date? Unless some really bad happened on the logistics side i think this is a simple matter of stock allocation.

Here a few bits of evidence, on the shop site it still says "coming May 28" even though when you click on it the orders now say 7th June which would indicate while the the iPad is coming May 28 the next delivery are 7th June.

Secondly look on the iPad Accessories page on the UK store:

http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop_ipad/ipad_accessories?mco=MTM3NDc0MTM

They all have different ship dates (again hinting at a simple stock allocation).

And remember a similar thing happened in the US for the iPad 3g model:

https://www.macrumors.com/2010/04/19/ipad-3g-to-ship-by-may-7th/

Again I might be wrong and tommorow we will get a email saying its all been delayed but I'm skeptical about it, but we will soon know soon enough. :)

The new delivery date for Non U.S. customers is June 7th. Shiping lead time in the U.S. has also been changed from 5 to 7 business days to 7 to 10 business days.

iPads are selling like hot cakes. And who knows what is going to happen when the iPhone 4G is released!
