Has anyone else experienced a long delay in receiving a credit / refund on a returned iMac? I returned my iMac on 9/2 and all I have to show for it is a receipt saying that ****ing Apple owes me over $2K.

I went to the Apple Store on Saturday to check on it and the guy at the Apple Store said it has been processed and everything looks ok. He claimed that any delay for the refund was due to my bank. A load of BS.

Keep in mind, that I was overcharged for a keyboard and got a $5 credit (at the same day, same store). The small credit showed up on my account within 2-3 days which is normal. This is going on 11 freaking days.

I have not had to wait for an Apple refund but did have to wait almost 14 days (10 business days) for a refund on a large purchase I made from Office Depot.

Banks can and do delay refunds, sometimes up to 4 weeks. It's in their terms in conditions on how long they have to process the refund and varies by card. I think it is so they can extend the refund into a second billing cycle and get finance charges from you for the original purchase. From what I have read, credit unions take even longer to process refunds, but not usually to get extra finance charges.

I think the length of time for your refund is a bit long, but you can't count weekends or Labor Day in that time frame since they are not business days. I hope it gets processed for you soon.

I guess I will give it a few more days. I have never had a credit take longer than a few days to post to my CC. Though, I have never had a credit this large, that I can remember.

Last time returned a iMac, online supervisor saidthe refund could take up to a full billing cycle.

It didn't take that long, but maybe you should just wait?

Is this for a debit or credit card?

Possibly you may want to call the card issuer and ask about the refund posting to your account. Some card issuers are faster than others at posting refunds received from merchants.

Through my local credit union, I've had refunds put back into my account within an hour of doing the return at the store. Through a national bank I use, I've had refunds from the same merchant take weeks.

And of course, if it's a credit card, I'm sure if you could convince them that the charge is already being refunded, they would let the payment slide until the charge actually gets refunded to your account. There's little sense in paying your $2,000+ credit bill just to have them send the money back in a week or two.

This is called "float" and banks are getting worst at this as it is in their favor. Apple reversed the charge the day they said they did and it is YOUR BANK CC company that is dragging their feet.

Welcome to obuma's financial reform!

Well, I just got my statement today for a different CC and all of the money was applied to this one. So, I have a $2000 credit on one bill, and a huge bill on the other one. I need to go to the Apple Store and get this sorted out if I can.

I used the above CC to buy a wired keyboard (I bought the day after buying iMac #3 in the same store), but I had put the iMac and printer on my main CC. Not sure why they applied all of it to this card.

BTW, the credit was applied to this account on 9/6 about the time it should have been. I never, ever have seen anything more than 2-3 days for a credit to be applied.

Why not get a cash advance on the wrongly used card, equal to the value of the credit, then apply it towards the balance owing on the other card.

That is ok. I think that I will just use this other card next month to use up the credit.

Too bad, had I known this I would have put my OWC order on this card. Oh well.
