This is good news everyone

I believe the delay is because of they are fulfilling their orders to resellers.

I believe that it might also have something to do with addressing the problems that many have been having due to yellow screens and flickering.

My replacement seems to have neither.

I hope the quality is better. So much bad press over all the problems, and fulfillment has left me to drool over it, and not actually pull the trigger, and purchase one.

Well mine is supposed to ship today, if it doesn't get here on the 26th I'm going to be pissed. I can deal with the 2 weeks I've already waited, but I need this for school asap, if I have to drop $200 on Microsoft office for my pc just to use till my mac gets here I'm going to let apple hear it.

BTW apples website now says ships in 3 weeks

It would be great for all the purchasers with delayed orders if Apple were swapping the ATI 4850 mobility cards with the newer 5000 series of mobility cards?

As I said, it would be great but realistically it's a bit premature for this iMac revision cycle.

My iMac ordered on Dec. 30th has yet to be shipped. 3 weeks? I wish. This is close to 5 weeks.

If you're just going to need the PC version of Office for a couple weeks, try OpenOffice. It can read and write Office 2007 files pretty well. The only issue I've noticed is that the formulas in OpenOffice Calc are a little different than Excel (it uses ';' instead of ',' for example).

As for my 27" iMac situation, my first one (an i7 week 47 unit) flickered/blacked out, so Apple replaced the unit with another one. This one seems to have an intermittent backlight waver issue, where it randomly wavers for a second. It's only happened a couple times so far, but I've only had the machine for three days now. It's probably a good thing that there is a delay on shipments, because that means there is a chance that Apple is getting a new batch of displays/backlights/video cables that work correctly.

Me too .... I did not pull the trigger because of the well known 27" issues .... I will be waiting some more weeks though in order to be sure that from week 03/2010 onwards the problems have been REALLY solved :)

We just ordered (last Friday) four of the i7s for work through our Mac consultant. He responded on Monday saying they would be in this week, which surprised me because, at the time, Apple's website said 2 weeks for our custom configuration.

I'm itching to get these things here and setup. But if a delay will mean less hassles down the road, I guess I can deal with my Power Mac a little longer.

Maybe LG will fix these new screens and get things perfect this time. That's the sucky part of owning the first of most anything.

Here's to hoping no issues happen with the tablet. I don't wanna get burned on that. ;)

After waiting all that time you'll probably begin a thread of when Rev B is coming out. :). Most of us are "waiting" at this point, it's not like you have a choice. My i7 is on order scheduled to ship on January 25th. I'm pretty sure Apple is going to send me an email telling me my order is being delayed. Honestly, as much as I would like to have it soon, they can take their time if they are taking care of the issues.

To the poster that said the 3 week wait was because Apple is shipping to resellers?? Uhhh No. It has to be the issues. Resellers historically have never gotten priority over Apple's own online store.

The delay could be due to absolutely anything and I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. Also, the resellers have had their orders delayed since the launch of the iMac so Apple may be trying to fulfil all their back orders.

Mine got delayed for 4 weeks not just 3.

Mine should have been shippped since Jan 20. BUt Apple rescheduled mine. Now the ship date is Feb 4. another 2 weeks :(

Time to caal for a free upgrade?

Why would they give you a free upgrade? You're welcome to call them to cancel your order you know…

I knew but I still tried calling them and got $100 discount witout offering first. ;)

You can try (without canceling your order)

Download the MOffice Trial. 60 days. :)

I'll bet this is true. I ordered an 17 on Wednesday from a reputable reseller and it shipped today. I had them break it open and bench test it for a day and they installed extra ram and not the apple one. Much cheaper.

I hope this method works, I'll post if it is a good one.

UPDATE

I got mine yesterday and it appears to be a good one, I think it is a week 2 unit. I'll continue to use it and wait for the other shoes to drop. Got my fingers crossed.

They're just waiting for iLife 2010 to be announced in the next few days, before they ship the iMac orders that are now being fitted with it. They can't have people receiving them with iLife 2010 before the product is announced.

All the stuff about fixes and screen changes is a lot of drivel.

Uhmm....they would be better off sending a free update disk to all the buyers that received iMacs with iLife09 installed over the two weeks before the launch of iLife10 .... IMHO

No more drivel than waiting for iLife.
