Hey everyone here, I think I don't need to repeat anything that is repeated here thousands of time.

I like my iPhone, and I think paying extra $200 money is not THAT pain for iPhone, such a brilliant product.

However, what really irritates me today is this:

Q1: Who will buy a $600 phone with locked carrier right after the release (within 60 days)?
A1: Ultra-fan users, who loves apple and their products so much for years. Because one needs to break his current contract (breakage fee), purchase a $600 phone without discount, and sign a 2-year contract with AT&T which is expensive as well. Most of us were not willing to do this, but WE WERE DOING THIS FOR APPLE.

Q2: Is $399 the right price for iPhone?
A2: Absolutely. According to the price of iPod Touch (which is almost the same with iPhone except for the phone and sms features) is $299, $399 is perfect for itself, and for everyone else.

Q3: Did they start the design of iPod Touch yesterday?
A3: Definitely not.

Therefore we got a conclusion here: Apple and Mr.Steve have been planning to make BIG money ($200 million) cruelly from their ultra-fan base who has been supporting them for years.

That is the point that I can NOT stand. And that's why most of us needs to stand up and fight for a solution.

Apple will lose its reputation of the past years just for this BIG mistake.

P.S. True, Apple has rights to adjust their products, everyone of us might have to work with Macs and buy apple products in the future. But what Apple loses in this game is far more important than those dirty money.

That is exactly how I feel. It's the fact that they used their fan base and best customers to get an extra 200 bucks. I think it will hurt them in the long run, as consumer loyalty is hard to come by...

People here wont understand. To them you are a big ole cry baby whiner loser who should act like this is as sweet as eating pie.

Very good point. No matter how you look at this, they screwed with their loyal base today of diehards ,period. Everyone with a clue (don't have to be a tech geek) knows technology comes down in price and evolves. Well this phone didn't evolve in 2 months, and, it's been only 2 months! Very dissapointed. If someone told me on launch day i could wait 60 days and get 3 8gig phones for the price i spent on buying my 2, i would have thought they where crazy. Not to mention this is one of the most anticipated gadgets ever (?!)
Weird, weird, weird.

PS Spare me with crap this was expected and why are we surprised. It take about 60 days to even get a rebate from phones that offer them. What i'd really like to see is a chart of phones that come out and about when they drop in price, i bet they aren't within 60 days. Blackberry Curve? Launched on ATT 5/31 same price now:
http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-ph...ils/?device=BlackBerry®+Curve&q_sku=sku970148

I just cant believe people didn't see this coming. It happens with all types of electronics, it may take a little longer for a price drop but it always happens. If you have to have bleeding edge tech you pay a premium. Even after this i would venture to say that with in a few months the new iPod Touch will get an update. The electronics world moves fast, so keep up or get out of the way ;)

I didn't think that $600 was too much for the iPhone when I bought it, and I still don't. Of course I would have liked to pay less. I, too, didn't think that they would drop the price before releasing iPhone2. I don't really care that they dropped the price. Maybe this will help drive the applications to the platform as more users purchase it.

I do, however, think that this is probably one of the worse handled product decisions that Steve Jobs have ever been a part of. Apple should have had a policy in place before announcing that they were dropping the price, and then stuck to it.

A1: Not everyone who purchased an iPhone is an "ultra-fan" who loves Apple products, and have been supporting them for years. And they were definately not switching to AT&T for Apple, more like doing it for themselves. They wanted the lastest and greatest, early adaptor bragging rights.

Yes Apple made money you gave them for a product you deemed worthy of it's $599 price tag, what's your point. this last statement is not my own but basically sums up how I feel.

So people are whining about a too drastic price drop. Would you feel better if tomorrow Apple said, You know, we've changed our minds and due to the bitching we've decided to only drop the price $100? Would you feel better if Apple only dropped the price $50 today, then 2 months from now drop it another $50, then 2 months after that another $50 etc? You were extremely happy with the purchase yesterday now you want to deny a good deal to the non-iphone people?

Basically you paid a $200 dollar premium to have the phone 3 months early... Who pays $600 dollars for a phone any way? I dont give a crap what it does, unless it goes to work for me and puts in a good 40 hour work week. Thats ridiculous. Let this be a lesson NEVER by ANYTHING on launch day, there absolutely no reason...

No you should act like you read the...

Return and Refund Policy

If you are not satisfied with your Apple purchase of a product, please call 1-800-676-2775 for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) request within 14 calendar days of the receipt of the product. Configure-to-order, personalized or other customized products may not be returned for refund or exchange under any circumstances unless such product is Dead on Arrival (see the section below for more detailed information on such Dead on Arrival products). If the item is returnable and you send it back to us unopened in the original box, Apple will exchange it or offer you a refund based on your original method of payment. You must return the product to the Apple warehouse within 14 calendar days of the issuance of the RMA. All products must be packed in the original, unmarked packaging including any accessories, manuals, documentation and registration that shipped with the product. Apple will assess a 10% restocking fee on any opened hardware or accessory. If you purchased your order using an Apple Business Lease, Apple may ask you to provide a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) so Apple can assess the 10% restocking fee.

P.S. I dont recall people complaining about a price adjustment on a 2 month old iMac when new iMacs came out, why should this be any different?

At this point I don't think doing anything like this would be smart, some people (even ones who stood in line on iDay) have already received their $200refunds. If it were to drop only $100 tomorrow, Apple just freebied some lucky people $$$.

I always buy on launch day. A price cut a few months later might sting, but a full bore spec upgrade right after you lay down your money is a kick you don't soon forget. I've had my iPhone for a good long time now, and I've put it to really good use. There's no way you could talk me into going back in time and trading that experience for another three months with my old phone. No way, no how.

Sure, I'd like $200, what person would turn that down? I mean, I never thought for a moment I'd make it to Christmas without seeing a price drop. Did I think it would be this much, this soon? No.

The game with technology is to buy what you need when you need and then sit on it until that tool no longer does the job. Keeping your eyes glued to the Apple press event calendar isn't healthy. I'm not in the market for an iPhone. I already own one. Price drops don't really affect me right now. Give me a few years and that third generation iPhone might get me thinking, but I'm set for the time being.

As for a MacBook Pro price cut... that's a market where a 33% price cut would be pretty sweet!:D
