Hey there,

I have ambitions of becoming an iphone application builder. I am familiar with the fact that I need xcode to program apps.

But do I need to be a registered developer to build iphone apps
here is the developer registration details http://developer.apple.com/products/membership.html

I am working with a low budget, can I get away with just using xcode?:apple::apple:

You can download xCode for free and use it to write your apps, and you can test them using the iPhone Simulator which is included in the SDK download... all for free. However, if you want to submit your apps to the App Store, or test them on a real iPhone (which you will need to do if your app utilises the accelerometer) then you will have to pay and become an official Developer. :)

Isn't it like $99? I was thinking of doing that, but I need (well, let's be honest, I want) an MRain stand AND a wireless keyboard:)

I have downloaded the Xcode/SDK from apple and messed around with it a little. I found some nice tutorials online on how to make the hello world face in the simulator. Kinda cool, but very simple compared to what devs' are designing.

The 99$ is an annual payment... so there's no point in paying it until you are ready to test apps... other wise you will pay for it then spend at least 6 months learning Objective-C, where the benefits you get from paying are useless (except the dev forums, but there are plenty of others around), and when you finally come to using it to test apps you will have less than half the years worth left.

thankyou everyone for the info.

I am glad to know that people here are willing to help me.

I will become an iphone developer after I build my first app.

p.s. Does it cost anything to submit an app to the iphone app store?

No, nothing beyond the $99 annual fee.

But you should have a working website... Some apps have been rejected because the website they referred to wasn't functional.
