Apple didnt fix my computer! Help!!!

Ok, some of you might remember my screen problem back at march when what looks like a row of dead pixels appeared on the bottom part of my screen [ see picture]. I finally took it to the apple store on Glendale, and the genius said they would send it for repair that they would change the screen. Left it there and waited for it to come back. Got it just now. I turn on the computer, and it still has the dead pixel problem!!!

what should i do? go to apple again? i checked the service website and it just says repairs completed.

what a surprise. I've had my own problems with apple care. Just keep on going into the apple store annoy them and eventually they'll give you what you want.

The lady genius was very burocratic, i hope she takesit back again. Does annoying get me a core 2 duo? [mines core duo].

Not your "usual" dead pixel arrangemnt. Looks more like a scratch youve inflicted on the thing. Maybe thats why they didnt fix it.

EDIT: is it scratched and an entire 8 rows or so of dead pixels at the bottom? Either way the scratch is omnious.

I was thinking that too. you can almost see through the gray area to the (what looks like working) pixels. It also looks like the left edge has a sharper/deeper line than the right edge.

To the OP: Can you post detailed pictures of the area (from 2-3 different angles) with your screen off? If it's really dead pixels then the screen shouldn't look different. If it's a scratch you should be able to see it.

Im pretty sure the op is talking about the line all the way at the bottom on the edge of the screen. It's a row of pixels glowing bright green. I think that is more related to the backlight. Regardless of what is causing it, it is a malfunctioning screen, so they should replace it. I have had issues with applecare as well. I once returned a macbook that was shutting down on its own and got it back with the screen bezel replaced. So off it went again. They still didn't get it. Then again. And it was still shutting down. Just an fyi, apple has a 3-strikes and they are out policy with applecare. If they fail 3 times, it is written in black and white that they have to give you a new machine, in retail box and all. So if i were you, I would be hoping they fail this time and the next. Then, it is not only lucky for you, but it is their policy to give you a new C2D MBP. They will however make you sign a legal document that says you can't tell anyone they did it.. And please don't ask me how i know that..;-)

wow guys, u have a really sharp eye! i hadn't even seen the green pixel things on the bottom of the screen, i was referring to the row/scratch that is pretty obvious, as soon as i get home ill take pictures of the screen on and off to see what you guys think. I used to think it was a hair trapped in there because at the beginning the angle was oriented to the left as you can see in the picture, then a month later, changed to completely vertical, and now its pointing to the right. If its a hair thy should replace it, since its not well sealed. If its a scratch [witch i cant feel when i pass my finger through it] can i buff it of, like with ipods?

I'd suggest next time that you check it out right after they hand it to you at the store... ie. don't let the Apple employee leave until you've checked it out. Don't leave the Apple Store until you've checked it out.

It's not a dead pixel, it's a hair caught behind the screen. It's somewhat rare, but mine old powerbook g4 ended up getting one right after I got a haircuit. Also, my current macbook pro is on its 2nd screen due to dust getting inside of it and forming black specs (NOT dead pixels). The newly replaced screen is getting worse every day.

I thought i had to pick it up at the store, and i was planning on inspecting it, but they shipped, so i couldn't do that. thanks for the tip though.

I'm pretty sure that is aswell a hair that's stuck between the screens protective glass and the pixels. Ill make that case next time. Strike 1!
