Yesterday after the announcement I was very anti-iPad because it didn't meet my expectations of what a tablet pc should be.

Today after thinking about it, Apple has another hit on their hands :D Pure Genius of them. Yes it's an oversized iPod Touch, but you know what an iPod Touch really is? It's a mini-tablet pc. They've made a tablet for the masses to consume their media, internet, movies and ebooks. This will sell like hotcakes and I'll probably wind up getting one.

Exactly. At first I wasn't sure, but then after thinking about it, it's a multi-touch laptop. I can only imagine the mind-blowing software already being thought up in the minds of the developers.

You're still tied to another device. It is not a laptop. It is a large PDA.

It is a nice device, but for me I'd use it mainly for viewing videos and web browsing. With the lack of Flash support the multimedia that can be done, for me, is very limited on the iPad. It should have came with a full browser instead of a limited modified browser.

Yeah, currently. But you can see where Apple is taking this.

Yeah, most of the limitations now are in the software (multi-tasking). Once they get that solved, it's pretty much game on for this device.

It'll have stylus hardware, better keyboard options etc within a year. They'll get a feel for how people use this thing and adjust the hardware accordingly (usb inputs, whatever).

I'm not going to be an early adopter as it doesn't meet my requirements, but it's going to make a lot people pretty happy.

With the iPod Touch and iPhone, we've had to sync it to iTunes to get the device to work. Will it be the same with the iPad?
Or can this device run without syncing with a computer first? I like the idea of not needing to sync the device first.

You know I wouldnt go as far as to say they did it again, however Ill say they were damn close. I know there are people who are thoroughly disappointed by the iPad, but I think these people just dont get the potential this thing has. Some improvements it needs (to fit my bill perfectly) are things that apple could deliver themselves, and some that we could get with 3rd party manufacturers. First of all it needs the obvious: multitasking, flash, a front facing camera, USB ports, and built in SD card reader for quick photo-management. Another thing Id love to see is the addition of a stylus, for creative work, though this could come from a third party manufacturer. Its safe to say I would be waiting in line for one with just the USBs and SD reader built in. Since it doesnt, it still really doesnt fit my bill I think Ill just wait a year see how apple improves it :) Im still super excited about it, and cant wait to play with one.
