Why would they. It's just a few new apps on top of iOS. Same stuff, different year.
This is incredible. The iPad 2 is now the longest living iOS device! Hopefully performance improves a lot for it and other A5 devices.
Interesting. I haven't looked through the code of iOS 9 or used it like you obviously have, but that's news to me. Usually there are many under the hood improvements and changes, but it looks like they haven't done anything but add a few new apps. If only they improved system services like Siri...
At least now we can hopefully put to rest all the guessing and discussion about this spanning multiple threads.

Hmm. Wonder how my iPad Mini 1 will run. iOS 8 is sluggish at best. My iPhone 5 should be fine though. They really don't want me to buy the new iPhone I guess!
its a **** pill to the fools that think apple drops old device support "on purpose". starting at the 4s theres a large jump in power compared to releases before it, makes perfect sense how its still going so long, ones after it will go even longer like the 5 & 5c
iOS 9 is shortly onto us and next year will bring iOS 10 or...iOS X. Who would've thought that Mac OS and iOS would eventually converge onto the same number...mainly that of 10 or X?
