Apple DVD Player question...

Apple's DVD Player application is great, as long as I ignore one major nuisance.

I have a 17" iMac. Anytime I play a widescreen DVD, it projects the wide-angle image only within a 4x3 box on the center of the screen. Is there any way to alter the settings so that the entire available screen space can be utilized?

Firstly, can we assume these videos aren't in fact widescreen movies ported badly to a regular ratio? Do they work properly on other machines?

In the Window menu there should be a Video Zoom option. When you click on it, what does your say?
