I just notice that the Apple Earpods don't work with older BlackBerry devices, does anybody know of a some earbuds I could buy that would work with BlackBerry?

I have one without the remote, no sound comes out at all. I have phoned Apple and BlackBerry, they both said that the Apple Earpods are not compatible with older BlackBerry models.
That's odd... I can understand them saying the remote version is not compatible, but the other EarPods shouldn't be any different from any other set of headphones.

Yeah I don't see why no sound would come out at all, a 3.5mm headphone jack is a 3.5mm headphone jack. I've used Apple headphones on BlackBerries before no problem. You sure your phone's not faulty? The BlackBerries from a few years ago weren't all that reliable.
On the headphones with the remote/mic the contacts won't line up properly. However the kind without should work I believe. This is a well known issue, check out the blackberry forums. However the response you'll get is to ditch the crappy headphones and get a nice set, I personally like the OEM Apple earbuds.
Its a blackberry thing. I had the Torch 9860 and Bold 9900 and a number of headsets I had didnt work in either (seinheisser, apple, beats, klipsch). They are for some reason really pinickity about what earbuds they support.
When I tried the z10 (only for 2.5 days) it worked fine with my headphones, so I'm not sure what they changed. Obviously remote control on headphones like the klipsch didn't work, but I didn't expect them to. But at least it does seem to fair better with headphones than BB 7 devices.

I did some googling on this and it seems the old BBs had a non-standard headphone socket for some reason. Good to see that's been ditched on the Z10.
The old Apple earbuds work just not the new ones, I think it is because the new ones have one extra ring around the jack, making the pins not line up properly.

Yes, that's the same thing I thought. My old Apple earbuds work perfectly on the Blackberry, it's the new ones that don't. I think it's because there is another ring on the jack, making the pins not line up properly.
Ah. Yeah, the extra ring would make it incompatible. Strange that the non-remote EarPods have that though, since its whole reason for being is to provide an electrical contact for the microphone/remote.
