I have a lot of Apple devices (QTY 2 MacBook, Mac Mini, QTY 3 iPads, QTY 2 iPhones, QTY 5 Apple TVs, QTY 3 Apple Watch)

I have a lot of Apple headphones... one pair of headphones I only ever use or want to use with my Apple Watch Ultra. I use those headphones (Beats Pro) to listen to music when working out. I don't connect them to other devices.

The Beats though frequently (usually) will connect to a device OTHER than my watch, even if the watch is a foot away and in use and the other devices are 20-40 feet away.

I've gone into my various other devices and changed the BT settings to NOT automatically connect the Beats, the only other option is "When Last connected"....

I can't just remove the pairing from the other devices since that will remove it from ALL devices.

It is mind boggling to me that this is as bad as it is.

Apple should have a setting that simply says "prefer this device" so that the headphones will switch connection to the priority device whenever it is available.

Not sure about other people's experience but I am beyond frustrated with how terribly this works.

It varies on peoples actual usage and use cases, but mine works pretty alright for the most part.

Sometimes I will be watching on my MacBook and get a notification etc on my iPhone. Even though the video is still playing not the MacBook, it still switches to the iPhone! Wish there were some more toggles to control how quickly it switches devices, preferred devices and even under which conditions.

Wishful thinking, but I am sure they could think of a solution that doesn't have tonnes of toggles but still gives users a bit more control over this - supposedly - great feature!

Interesting. I have a lair of Beats Studio Bud’s that I only die with my watch. I’ve not seen the same issue. They never connect to any other device and when I put them in they connect with my watch every time.

Their first mistake was losing a headphone jack. Yep, I'm still mad. Air pods won't last through a sleep, and even wake you with a chime when they run out in the middle of the night. OH, fer fun.

I find it works superbly. I put in my AirPods, play audio from any of my devices and it comes out through the AirPods. No messing around with pairing etc.

There are adaptors. You can still used wired if you wish.

I wish this were the case. But the dual cables they make to charge/listen have all been trash. I suppose one could now do a magsafe charger and use a dongle for listening, but that isn't cheap/consumer friendly.
[shakes fist at cloud] Used to be, there was a universal respect for commonality, and the ability to integrate tech into what you already had around the house.

That hasn't been my experience at all.

Put earbuds in, hear pairing sound, go to Watch Ultra (last device connected to earbuds) go into Tidal, play audio, it asks where I want to connect audio, choose earbuds, it sits and spins for 30 seconds and then complains it can't connect to the earbuds.

Then I go pull up my phone/ipad/whatever and sure enough that's where the earbuds connected.... then I have to disconnect them from that device and get them to reconnect to the watch.

It's horrible and I don't use that term lightly.

Man that sucks. Glad that it's been smooth for me, but I hope I don't jinx myself now that I've said it out loud.
