Apple announced EKG with the latest watch. Their health app and other fitness apps are gaining traction. How do you see Apple gaining ground in the healthcare industry? There are many privacy barriers such as HIPAA and other well established companies. I could see this as being a big move for them if they can figure out how to improve medical records and other areas of healthcare.

I work in the healthcare industry, and I don't see them entering it. The work required is such that it doesn't make sense. Apple may be a trillion dollar company, but there are some heavy hitters in the healthcare sector. Don't also forget that hospitals and clinics, don't have tons of money to spend on new software and due to government regulations they have to use electronic records, so they already have a high degree of automation.

Yes, not to mention, I can't see them buying a ton of iMacs or 4 year old Mac Minis. I do see a few doctors using iPads however. Windows wisely went the corporate route with their software even if it is inferior. I still think they are obviously branching at least into personal health monitoring.

"Assisting" with healthcare sounds better.
