Apple Event A Letdown

What did I just watch, This keynote was the lamest most disappointing keynote in recent memory, the biggest thing was the blood oxygen Sensor in the series 6, where’s the innovation Apple? We didn’t even get any info on the ARM Macs or any sort of indication about any upcoming updates to the lineup of Macs aside from the news about the watch and iPad, oh and now they are not including a power brick, either

While I hoped for AS Macs too, they deserve their own event. Yes, the presenters were flat, but the iPad Air announcement was fine.
They could have done all that with a press release 🤷🏻♂️

I don't know why you watched the entire thing. Tim Cook was very clear at the beginning of the event that today's focus would be the Apple Watch and iPad. If you didn't care about those two product lines, you should have turned off the stream.
The "Time Flies" teaser line gave it all away: we knew Apple Watch would be part of this event.
Also you have been here long enough to know that Tim Cook's style is not to meander and blab hazily about unreleased products. "Oh, yes, we're working on new iPhones and Macs but we're not ready to show them to you today but trust me they look cool and have some great new features you're gonna love. Uh, we also have an unfinished Apple TV in the lab and some iPad Pros that we'll get to another day" isn't really the Apple style. It wasn't when Steve was giving these keynotes either.
That also doesn't drive focus to today's products.
Do you think Microsoft would ramble something vague about the next-gen Xbox console during a Microsoft Office product launch. Or the Ford CEO mumbling about some electric car prototype during an F-150 truck launch. NO.
Apple was very clear in their explanation why they were eliminating the included charger. You can still buy one if you need to. And I totally agree. I have 10-12 white Apple chargers in a cabinet. It's called e-waste for a completely valid reason.
I had no expectation for AS Macs today. During the WWDC keynote, Apple was intentionally vague and only mentioned they'd start shipping before the end of the year. They did not make any commitments by quarter or month. That was a pretty clear signal that AS Macs will be announced quite late. Remember that Macs comprise 10% of Apple's total revenue. Macs have not been a major contributor to their revenue stream for many years.
The next Apple event will likely be an iPhone event (maybe AirPods too). Apple CFO Luca Maestri was very clear that this year's iPhone release would be delayed by a couple of weeks during the analyst conference call following the most recent quarterly earnings announcement.

A personal trainer for $10 a month or $80 a year 🙄
They made small upgrades to the Apple Watch. I didn’t expect it to be worse then last years.. Another iPad 🤦🏻♂️

As seemingly bad as this was, I vaguely seem to remember the Apple Education event IIRC when iBooks was introduced, that was truly woeful.
It wasn’t a keynote. It was billed simply as an event.
COVID caused a lot of delays for many things. I believe that is why (partially at least) we are only getting new iPhones in Late October/November at the earliest. Apple also has had iPad Pro/Mac events in October.
People say the same thing about every Apple Event. It all depends on what you're personally looking forward to.
It’s less so about the event being an AW and iPad focused event, it was the pure lack of innovation, the blood oxygen sensor is a big deal and a welcome addition to make the Apple watch even greater than it is but that was the highest part of the event that brought some interest and excitement,
And by the way, for the member several posts above that replied that Mac is no longer a focus for Apple because it doesn’t generate the majority of sales should be ashamed of themselves, Talk about forgetting your roots. The Mac is what made Apple what it is today and should be the main focus of the company, not creating a regurgitated iPad year after year with incremental upgrades.
I think they are focusing their innovation on the processor which in turn innovates the Mac. Which I am happy for. Macs have been bottom on the list compared to iPhone, iPad, Watch.
I don't know what else they could do on iPhones and iPads. It is mostly an OS level improvements at this point.
I honestly think Steve Jobs is turning in his grave, Apple is regurgitating the same product over and over year after year with incremental updates. Rumor has it the iPhone 12 isn’t getting ProMotion displays either I mean come on a better processor is great but where is the innovation... How about vastly superior battery life on the Apple Watch and iPhone? Doubt we’ll see that this year
I don't think so. We really cannot compare what Steve Jobs would be doing now. We just do not know. Steve did make mistakes.
You just downplayed a major component of their business, processors, by saying "a better processor is great but where is the innovation." Apple is out innovating everyone in the cpu field (a large industry) and for you it still boils down to lacking innovation. Those hardware innovations lead to the software being more capable.
It is should be pointed out that Apple themselves removed "Computer" from the company name.
It's not Apple Computer Inc. It's Apple Inc. This happened in January 2007 before Apple had shipped a single iPhone. Steve Jobs announced the change himself. For him the writing on the wall was a plain as day.
Some people can't see the forest for the trees.
Putting that topic aside, Apple needs to deliver on their promise to deliver AS Macs this year but not rush them out the door half-baked. I've dealt with more unready hardware and software than I'd care to experience in ten lifetimes.
If Apple thinks AS Macs aren't ready yet then they aren't ready yet.
AAPL shareholders will not look too kindly on a failed Mac launch but then again they won't be terribly happy if CFO Maestri told them a massive lie either.
If Apple doesn't execute their Intel-Apple Silicon transition well, the market will take this into account regardless of how well iPhone does.
It's also worth pointing out that wearables is Apple's fastest growing hardware segment. The Apple Watch is increasingly becoming an important part of Apple's overall business whether or not you like it or not.
