Hello,

Recently file sharing in a lab seems to only function partially and i do not quiet understand where the issue is or why the file sharing has partially stopped working. There are about 25 Macs a classroom all have had file sharing enabled since spring of last year. All of the Macs have the same username and password setup on them. The 1 mac is at the front of the classroom and is able to sometimes connect to the public shared folder of all 24 of the other Macs in the classroom. The other 24 Macs are able to connect to each others public folders with out any issues. The 24 Macs will not connect to the shared public folder of 1 mac at the front of the classroom. All Macs are able to ping each other. I have made sure file sharing is on for all 25 Macs. I have made sure that read\write permissions are set for the account for all 25 Macs. I have made sure that there are no saved passwords in the keychain that might cause an issue. I am not sure what else to look for and any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank You

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that unless you are using OS X server software, the maximum number of concurrent AFP connections to a share is 10.

Im not sure. i know enough about Mac OS to get buy. I read somehere that the AFP has been depcriated from Mac OS and that one should use SMB. which the macs in the lab are doing both. The computer at front doesnt have 25 conncurrent connections at any time anyways so i do not think that is an issue seeing how i cannont even get one to connect.

Check the firewall settings on the computer at the front of the class. Also make sure file sharing is turned on and both AFP and SMB are activated, and that the folder is still shared with proper permission.
