I thought that was a rumour through ZD Net, suppoted by the fact that some MB owners were allowed to send their stained MBs in for repair.

What caught me about the latest development is that it represents an official and public acknowledgement of the problem. I don't think they had done so before.

It's good to see Apple step up to the plate on this one. It's good for them in the long run because it will definetly influence people's decision to purchase the Macbook.

Maybe this is why there have been significant delays in the white MacBook recently but not the black... They've changed their manufacturing method havn't they.

Hopefully when I order my MacBook, it won't have any staining or anything.

I'm looking forward to the Mooing, I already have sheep nearby - it'll be like having new friends.

Wonderful. Now if they'll just acknowledge and correct the mooing, whining, overheating, and random shutdowns they'll have defect-free laptops.

I sent my macbook in yesterday to correct the staining problem. They received my macbook today and it is on hold because they are waiting for the plastic bezel to come in.

Does anyone else have their computer on hold? Or if they did,,,,, did it take long for them to fix it?

Thanks

Sent mine in on the 24th. On hold still. :( Hopefully something will happen over the weekend.

Well atleast i'll probably get my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse around the same time. Should arrive on the 2nd. I would imagine they would have the part and complete the repair by then...right :(

I don't have the problem but am worried it may appear. Does it happen pretty quickly? Should it have occurred by now ? . Will it occur if you type without using the wrist rest ? My serial number starts with 4H620.

Do you use the trackpad button regularly? The stains will occur there as well.

And by the way, to my knowledge, the problem has still not been solved - Apple is just replacing the top cover part with the same original part. I had mine replaced and the technician told me that it's going to stain again.

Stains, lol. I have seen colored iBooks. Blue, black, green, orange, speckled, and streaked. And the trackpads look all shiny. Apple recognizes the problem now? Ok, cool, its only been what, 4 years now?

Its cool they have recognized this I am seriously considering calling Apple to sort mine out this week and mine is showing discoloration on the keyboard a bit as well as the track-pad....

Will probably give apple a call tomorrow to sort things....

Does anyone know what the turnaround for these repair's are as I cannot afford to go computer-less for over a week or two,

I just checked my status. The part came in and the repair was completed today and its on its way back. So hopefully I'll have it on Monday. Yay!

I called Apple at noon on Monday the 24th, the package came at about 10am and DHL came and picked it up around 3pm that day and it got to Apple the next(26th) and it was on hold until today. So just under a week not too shabby.

And my MacBook didn't start showing stains until about 6 weeks in. Hopefully the wait for the cover meant they got some good ones in that won't stain like the original.
