Apple gift cards question

Hi

I was intending to purchase online gift cards to send to family in the US and UK with the goal of them being used for hardware purchases. I'm in the US. I notice some differences between the programs:

US: https://www.apple.com/shop/gift-cards
UK: https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/gift-cards

It seems like the US program supports use of gift cards (I think they unified the gift card program) for hardware purchases, but the UK one doesn't. Is that correct?
