I'd like to trade in my old Watch to Apple when I pick up a new Series 4. I'll have to order that watch for pick-up at the local Apple Store, and would like to trade in the old watch at that time. It's a little unclear how that works, and a chat with an Apple representative wasn't very illuminating. Do you just order the Watch per normal, but when you pick up it up (after your credit card has been charged), you can turn in the old watch and they will issue a refund against that same credit card, rather than giving you a gift card?

Has anyone done this to confirm?

Many thanks.

It's best to set it up when you purchase it unless you want a gift card.

Some have had success trading it in at the store (when picking up) instead of mailing it in. Either way, no harm in setting it up when you purchase.

So when I ordered in-store pick up for my Apple Watch S4 SBSS, I did not choose the giveback trade it right away. I went back in after a week later, I traded in my Watch 3 and got $250 credited back to my credit card that I used to get the Watch 4. I believe you can do that or asked to put it on the gift card.

So the way I did it, I ordered the watch online and did in store pickup that same day and just told them in store that I wanted to trade in my old one. My card was not actually charged until I picked it up and they immediately credited the same card with the trade in amount
