For anyone who's done this in an Apple store, I'm looking to trade in a 7+ and do Verizon's device payment plan. Do they deduct the trade in amount right then and there? I called Apple 2x last night and got 2 different answers. I was told the amount is deducted after the phone is returned to Apple and can take up to 14 days, at that point they deduct from the remaining balance on the new phone??? This didn't make much sense, so I called back and was told, "I think they do it instantly in store, I'm not really sure?" Basically, I'd like to use that money for Applecare+ and a screen protector/case. And yes I did search this already and just wondering if Apple's policy recently changed, or if it's different when doing a Verizon device payment plan. Anyone recently done this with a Verizon payment plan? Thanks!

I traded my 6S in when I picked up the XS in store. I got a refund on my credit card that day. Now I did the payment plan through Apple not my carrier, so idk if it’d be different.

Thank you, I thought it was instant, I don't see why it would be different with Verizon, just weird that Apple wasn't sure.

Well I was told that I couldn’t sign up for the iPhone upgrade program in store that I could only do it online. I chatted with a “specialist” the morning before I went to get the phone and that’s what she told me. So I’m not surprised you got two different answers.

My first rep said I could do Verizon's payment plan online or thru her if I wanted. I had always thought with Verizon's payment plan, it had to be in store only. So when I questioned about the time frame of the trade in credit, nothing made sense.

Edit: First rep told me that even going into the Apple store the phone would still need to be sent back to be evaluated, and that's why it would take up to 14 days for any applicable credits. Hopefully it makes sense what I'm asking now. LOL

I traded in a 6s plus in store and received an apple gc on the spot ( wasn't applying to previous purchase). If you plan on buying apple care and a case maybe do it that way?

That's what I'm thinking, I was just told I'd still have to wait up to 14 days before I'd get the gift card. This didn't seem correct, I was pretty sure it's done on the spot when you go to Apple. It's very disheartening when you call and get different answers.
