If Apple and Google were to work together against Microsoft/Yahoo!, it would be the technology battle to end all technology battles!!!

I doubt google needs any help from apple to keep its 77% of the market share.

I think there'd be a lot to be said for a Apple+Google single entity.

At the end of the day, though, I don't think either needs the other that much... both are doing brilliantly as it is. Microsoft and Yahoo both have more pressing issues to address.

I think you all are forgetting that if there is a merger of Google and Apple, it will be Google taking over Apple, not the other way around.

But it will never happen, because Google (like Microsoft) is purely a software company. They have no interest in producing hardware, which is Apple's main business. The gap between what these two companies are "interested in" is too wide to be bridged, and any merger would be awkward at best.

Not for that reason, it is just to kill off Microsoft for good. :)
Good luck. The only way to kill Microsoft is to somehow manage to destroy its vast reserves of cash.

The only thing an Apple+Google merger would do is threaten Microsoft in its two weakest markets (search engine services and hardware).

Unless the world over stops using Windows and Office, Microsoft is here to stay.
I hope that happens its my life long dream

Why? Microsoft isn't terrible or evil or the devil or <insert the most evil thing you can imagine here>. It's a company. And it's a very successful company. Mind you it operates like a monopoly at times, but there are laws that can be enforced to prevent that.

If we were to analyze Microsoft on the virtue of being a company, I think it's done a fairly good job over the years (granted it's been a boring company lately, but that's another issue).

Many people are saying this?? maybe you are saying this.. I don't think Apple nor Google want's this. They'll maybe also get sued for monopoly for working too much together.

I don't see this happening anytime soon. Google seems to just like other companies ignore it's mac users, look at how long we have been without Google Talk (from Google).

Who cares about Microsoft's money? They don't need to be made broke so they can be eliminated. Let them keep their money. As long as the company becomes irrelevant then it wouldn't matter what happens to them then. They will be out of the way and the tech industry as a whole will get a good boost and be allowed to develop freely.
And MS is evil.

I'm sorry, but how exactly does Mircosoft getting out of the tech industry help anything? Microsoft, for all its faults, handles thing impressively at times. I challenge Apple to run 1 billion+ copies of OS X and NOT have any security issues. Whether or not you like Microsoft on a personal level doesn't have much basis for how well they maintain software "stability" (term used somewhat loosely).
And MS is evil.

Why? Because it wants to make money?

I guess we're all evil then.

9to5mac.com mentions that Apple together with News Corp also also have a bid. And that Apple and Yahoo! have better relations
